this is a very simple chase unit I am going to buy to replace my four old school par cans.
(they are old a clunky and require a chase unit, this is a new LED light that has it's own built in chase)
I have been price shopping and I noticed darn near every online store has TWO prices:
one for the regular unit ($69.95) and another for a "re-stock" ($49.95).
While I am all for saving money...I'd much rather have a brand new unit and pay the extra $20.
But then I wondered...WHY are there so many re-stocks?
Are they having a problem with the new ones, and they are taking them back for repairs, and then re-selling them? If so, would it be smarter to buy a re-stock, since the unit has already been fixed?
Anyone have any experience with the DJ BANK LED, or heard any stories? (good or bad)

We have 2 of them. They are a great wash light. They are non DMX, but works great with the sound. Just have to watch the sensitivity knobs on them. If you have them set for one gig, they will have to be set again for your next one. The speed and sensitivity knobs are really easy to move when packing and unpacking. But, yes, they are great lights.
 
They have them here less than a mile from my home at one of my Vendors. Not too bright in my opinion. One of these will give you more impact.

I was just looking at the same ADJ unit before jumping on here.
The price is about the same...but BOTH units have 35 LED's per color, so I don't think it'd be any brighter.
The bigger one is nice, but a little too big for what I need. (and I dont need DMX)

Well I was just giving you two options. The smaller ADJ is brighter than the Chauvet. LEDS are the same amount but much brighter. If you like the circular vs rectangle then thats ok too. Like I said I have seen them both side by side. Anyways it is your choice, no hard feelings here.;)

That IS good to know. The ADJ site doesn't mention the "lux" of their unit...
so the LED count was all I had to go on.
 
I may be looking at the small one that Canute posted. The DJ Bank isnt all that bright. It does a great job as a wash light, but there really isnt any "effects" to it. If the square ones is brighter, and the same price, I may get one to try it out.
 
Right now, I am using 4 small Par38's with regular 150-watt flood lamps.
I use them as a chase/wash...not an effect.
I realize neither of these is very bright, but I am also currently using a full size Chauvet Colorstrip...
which is really TOO bright, so it'll all even out in the end.
It's an attempt to downsize my lighting rig, so size is also a key factor.

I am more worried about all the re-stock units out there...
maybe that's more reason to go with the ADJ ColorBurst LED.
 
Canute got me thinking...I might as well just go with the Colorstrip MINI.

But first, can someone explain this brightness thing:

the DJ Bank is listed as • Illuminance: lux 541 at 2 m
the Colorstrip Mini as • Illuminance: 358 @ 2 m

Does this mean the DJ Bank is BRIGHTER than the Colorstrip???
Or does the word "lux" change the value of the numbers, somehow?
 
Based on THEIR numbers, it would appear so. As long as 2 objects are compared with the same measure of evaluating light intensity (lux, lumens, candles, etc. at a specific distance or area) the higher the brighter.

I assume the number is the maximum brightness, which would be all segments on and most likely showing white.

You can't go by the number of LEDs, as there are various sizes available and no mention which is used.
 
I do notice that the colorstrip mini draws almost 50% more power (38w), which given the efficiency of LEDs, would normally lead to a brighter fixture. The other 2 draw about the same 24/25w. So there appears to be a contradiction.
 
i have 4 of the dj banks they are ok for there price.. i also agree that they are to sensitivie.. i use mine every once in a while to uplight behind my dj booth...

Couldn't you put a piece of tape over the built in microphone?
 
Kudos to you all for all your thoughts.
You have swayed me into what I feel is the best decision for what I want.
I just ordered the Colorstrip Mini.
Better to have too bright than too dim...
and I will be able to master/slave it with my full size Colorstrip
and place that somewhere else for a coordinated effect.
(perhaps under the DJ table, to help light the floor)
