I finally got my new camera today!

I got the money t9ogether today so i went to get my new digital camera. I didn't get the one i was looking for. I was looking for the Canon T2i with the extra camera lens for $749.00. I went to Unique Photo first and they didn't have that one. They had the with a different extra camera lens. That was $849.00. I wasn't willing to spend that much. I simply bought the light that i can use to shoot video with from them. That cost $70.00 plus tax.

I went to a few other stores and couldn't find it in any of those stores. I finally went to Electronc Expo and they didn't have it. So what i settled for from them is the Canon T3i with the lens to go with it. It doesn't have the extra camera lens like the one i was looking for. It sold for $749.00 and the salesman gave me a price of $699.00. I hesitated because i was really caught up on getting the T2i i wanted. A friend that was with me talked me into getting the T3i.

He sold me the camera bag for $49.00 and an 8 gig card for $8.00. I bought the extended warranty for 4 years for $169.00. So if anything happens to the camera they will fix it and if they can't fix it he told me i would get the newer next model up. So if they discontinue this model i would get the model that replaces this one. I don't anticipate anything happening to this camera.

We took a few pictures once we figured out how to take them. Nothing of me at a gig or anything but just some pictures to see what they would look like. Here they are. The computer is saying the files are too large to upload. Damn!

I can't wait for my birthday party Friday to show of my new camera and have some great fun playing first!

Open them with windows "Paint" app, shrink them 50%, save as a new filename and then try to post 'em up. You bought Canon, I imagine Adoble lightroom works with it, but you'll have to pony up the $$ for the app, that works too! For free....right now...paint will get ya done.

I certainly have a lot to learn with this camera. I've never had a camera like this. All the others were simple point and shoot cameras. I got to find out how to stop the alarm from sounding when taking a picture.
 
Mix .. the Canon should have come with software that handles the upload. If not, simply plug the USB cable into your PC and turn on the camera .. it should appear as a drive letter and there should NOT be an issue moving files between the camera and the computer. The only time you should get a message that the file is to big is if you were uploading the images to another website (such as facebook or ODJT) .. some of these have file size limits. Otherwise, you should be able to move files back and forth between the camera and computer the same way you'd move files between directories.

As mentioned, for most purposes, turn off raw files and use .jpeg output, and for your purposes, smoothed medium file size should be plenty. That should decrease the file size and still allow enough image for anything used on the web.

And the T3i is a great camera .. the only thing you didn't get was the extra lens, which you can pick up on eBay.
 
$849 was too much to spend, but by the end of the day you dropped $925 and still don't have an extra lens.

What extra lens are you looking to get? I have the same camera, and a few lenses.
 
Mix .. throwing a monkey wrench in ... if you can return it and if you are a member of BJs Warehouse Club (or wish to be), they have the slightly better Nikon D5100 with 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses (plus camera bag) for $799 starting today ($300 off instant rebate).
