troll v.,n. To utter a posting on a forum designed to attract predictable responses or flames. Derives from the phrase "trolling for newbies"; which in turn comes from mainstream "trolling";, a style of fishing in which one trails bait through a likely spot hoping for a bite.
The well-constructed troll is a post that induces lots of newbies and flamers to make themselves look even more clueless than they already do, while subtly conveying to the more savvy and experienced that it is in fact a deliberate troll.
I am classifying this post as a way to shine a light on something that I feel that many of you don’t see.
First, welcoming of new members. I have never been soo disgusted in the way many of the members here treat new members; from the ‘this has already been posted’ comments to the ‘you cant do parties with only 2 x15’ speakers’ or ‘your equiptment is not as expensive as mine so your stuff sucks’ comments. It’s getting old people!
Second, Cesar (the reason for the troll definition)! Yup you all heard the name, read his posts, asked where he lives, ask to show himself, bash him for his posts, and bash him for what he claims for the amount of gigs he does. Cesar has a great amount of knowledge in this industry and gives his knowledge to us in the form of a question; it’s that simple. If you don’t know how to answer the question, don’t start having a hissy fit over his post. Read it, understand it, question yourself, it’s called growth and I commend Cesar for helping me grow. Deserves a Standing O!
I have been a mobile DJ all my life, went away from it for a few years only to be dragged back in with a new perspective on it. Keep it Simple! Why do we make things so difficult?
Right now as a hobbyist, I am a DJ. When I was PT, I was a DJ. When I ran a multi op, I was a DJ.
Most of the above is just me ranting, as I come back to this forum and almost want to leave again because of the snotty holier than thou responses from some.
Thanks for Reading, member since the beginning!
