The Things I Learned...

2. DJs are supposed to stand all the time.

I was called unprofessional on many boards because my back did not believe this. Even though I could mix just as well sitting on a stool giving my back a break I was still unprofessional.

3. Playing line dances is the mark of cheesy DJ.

If the client wants line dancing then play line dances. If the client does not want line dances and they are requested then note the request but don't play it.

4. Playing games at weddings is the mark of a cheesy DJ.

If the client wants games, play games. If the client doesn't want games then don't play games.

I learned a long time ago to seperate the wheat from the chaff on any DJ board. I could care less what anyone thinks of me aside from my clents.

Y'all gonna be spinning at the SW FL DJ paintball games...? :)

... paintball games AND BARBEQUE !

Things I've learned...

1. Most DJs I have met or encountered are cheapskates.
2. Many DJs are hypocritical (related to above item).
3. Bigger is not better.
4. The prettier a cake is, the worse it will taste.
5. Old people are awesome!
6. Bridesmaids and FOBs don't know that their toast stories are long winded and boring.
7. It's not about you.
8. Most of the things that you think matter, really don't.
9. Wedding planners are the Devil.
10. DJs shouldn't try to do the Devil's work.

12: Ricky has a pet Gator
13: Steve likes Megan Fox

She's about the same age as my daughter, but it's a guilty pleasure. Actually she's 2 years older, so I'm safe I guess.

MF is H.O.T.

Oh Hell, my gators will eat yer MF in a heartbeat. Faith has no more goats to take care of -- guess what's out there...? ;)

We're not good at much else, but ask us to herd something, and it's $250 per hour :)

I can program or DJ for the same price :)

If the bride hits the floor, her guests will also. If she stands to the side and chats, her guests will likewise.

I always tell the B/G the same thing. If you want the guests to dance...be the first one on the floor.
as for your 4's, Rick...I think it does depend on the event, the timing, and the market.
The basic plan for me is to start with older stuff and work my way up to new stuff
(since the crowds where I live seem to hit the dance floor in the same order)
but it's not a LAW. if it aint working, I don't stick to it.
and that doesn't mean I don't play anything new or fairly new until the last hour(s)
starting with oldies is just a nice way to make sure the old farts don't feel left out....
which I get compliments on all the time...
(well not so much lately, as I have BECOME one of the old farts)

How sweet old posts or threads are when the person that was arguing with me is no longer in the business and i am still here.
