I have four EV TX 1181 subs that I would like to connect to an amp. Before I go on, I DJ mostly school dances (jr high/middle school). My setup is a biamp system: four TX 1152 connected to EV CP3000, x-over, four TX 1181 subs connected to EV Q1212 in parallel mode. When I did this two of the subs sounded normal, but the other two subs sounded as if they were muted. I was wondering if this is normal; am I not connecting everything correctly? In the past I was only using two tops, x-over, two subs in bridge-mono mode. The two amps that I have aren't rated to go bridged-mono in 2 Ohms so that is why I went in parallel mode. Any suggestions on how to connect the four subs with the amp that I have so that the two subs aren't muted?

I did; I had two subs (daisy chained) off channel A and two subs (daisy chained) off channel B. It was the two subs off channel B that were muted--channel A subs sounded normal--that is what is puzzling me.
OK... did you turn both gains up for channel a and b? In parallel the outputs are still controlled independently just as in stereo, the onlyone difference is input a is linked to b, whereas in Br only channel a is used.
I should have added that in the other reply--yes, I made sure both gains on both channels on the amp were up.
I tried that too, but was only able to hear the subs on channel A. I will try it again this weekend--if that doesn't work, what else?
I would try that by bypassing the crossover and sending a full range signal to a and b... see if it still exhibits the same issue... if not then you may have a problem with your amp... have it checked or leave it in stereo and just use a y splitter to send a signal to both channels in stereo mode.
Sounds like your amp has crapped out on you... if in stereo mode and you are sending signal to both
I will try bypassing the x-over and send a full range signal and see what happens--I'll do it sometime this week--hope the neigbors don't complain about the noise :tribiggrin:
I just used this same amp Friday in bridge-mono mode and it worked fine powering two subs daisy chained. Does that mean the amp is OK or is there a problem in the parallel/stereo mode of the amp?
In bridged mono you only send signal to channel a and only output from channel a and gain is only controlled by... u guessed it A.
Bridging an amp turns the amp into one big push / pull configuration allowing the amp to double is power output to a single channel.
I'd wager that you're only getting half its rated power because channel b has issues.
When I was testing it at home I could hear the four subs work fine. It wasn't until I did a school dance that I noticed the muted subs. From the x-over, I'm using the sum output for the subs (isn't that a mono signal?)--does that have any affect when using stereo mode on the amp with subs?
In parallel you want a summed signal into the channel A just as you would for bridged...
But, in stereo you need to feed both A and B a signal...
Coming from your xover you need a splitter so that you can feed the mono signal to both A and B.
Think of stereo mode as more like to mono amps in one caseing operating independent of each other.

Here is what I'm going to do to see if the amp has a problem. I'm going to use this amp for my tops; this way I can hear if there is a problem in the stereo/parallel mode of this amp.
If it checks out there then its time to try isolating gear adding one component of your signal chain at a time until the problem is reproduced.
So what you are saying the amp might not be the problem, but I would need a splitter cable if I was going to use the stereo mode when connecting the four subs--two on each channel? Is that a close assesment?
In stereo yes... but you also said you tried parallel too and noted nothing coming out of the set of subs on B side. Assuming you made the proper connections it should have worked.
In parallel I did have sound coming out of the subs on channel B, but it was muted. The gains were all up when I tested it at home, and I'm pretty sure they were all up when I did the school dance. But I will double and triple check the next time. I am still going to check the amp using my tops to rule out any possiblities. Thanks for your help.
