Why Processing Can Be Beneficial To Active/Powered Speakers.

Steve you are so ridiculous in your assertions! Have you ever heard of, "if it ain't broken don't fix it?" Probably not. Have you ever heard that in business you try to maximize profits, probably not because you are a hobbyist who may not care about treating what you do as a business. I have some equipment that has served me for years. Listening to you, some will think that everything in my rack is 30 years old. LOL like they were making Pioneer MEP 7000 and Crown XTis in the 70s.
I post new equipment on here from time to time just for the information. I may make a recommendation as to its application. At no time do I TELL folks that they should go out and buy it.
Your assertion about having to first own something to know how it works is BS. I don't have to own a tube preamp to know what it can do. My Electronics training has taught me that in theory so I know what to expect. Again you use words such as "Lecture" to describe me so that you can get sympathy in your quest to put me down.
The thread started out in one direction with a specific subject matter and the latter half of it is all filled up mainly by attacks initiated by you. Of course others who are in your band wagon would not see that, so I get the blame. No problem! I am a grown adult, I can take it. I don't have to go crying to the mods and ask them to close the thread. I love a healthy debate and as you can tell I am not a quitter.

Every Good business plan includes replacement of gear at regular intervals.....You now profess to have 2 or 3 businesses; obviously your "business" savvy isn't that great or you'd be living off of it, right? I guess then you are a hobbyist or part timer, just like me. The difference is, my business plan doesn't include a $1500 back up cd player (I'm smart enough to know there are as good solutions for much less money).

In a thread about sound processing, you make this statement:

but I have formally studied Electronics even though not entirely up to engineering level

How does that not imply you think this knowledge makes you know it all about sound?
Comprehending English is really a challenge to you, eh? Again, tell me where it states that I said I am a Sound Engineer. You have $100.00 waiting You are reading into things that are just not there. Quit drinking so much Moonshine!v

Whining to the mod in this case will get you no love Canute....you made this bed...now you have to sleep in it...

Carry on boys.
LOL! You too! Who said I was whining or want to whine to the Mods? My statement was that I was not going to do that.....I have seen some plead for certain threads to be closed their's took a wrong turn. I was not going to follow suit. :triwink:

Boy oh boy, how you distort facts. Whoever said I bought my Pioneer as a backup CD player? I bought that unit because it replaced my Dual Deck which could not play MP3s. I also said that in the event my Laptop goes down it can be a total backup because it does everything my Laptop can do as I can play from an Ext. HD, make Playlists and run in Auto Mode etc.

I see your strategy.... say outrageous things about me and twist what I say so you can have others join your scorned Bandwagon. BTW I do make a living from my two businesses and can survive from either one. My flexible time allows me do both.

So it's not back up - but is back up......Do you use a laptop primarily?

I make a living (does that mean do well?) you could survive off one...does survive mean sleeping in a shelter?

Never mind......

I think y'er nit pickin' now. Several of us have CD players that serve as backups to our primary machines \ devices. Canute clearly stated that he didn't buy it as a backup, he bought it as a replacement for an existing CD player. This new CD players current function is as backup to his primary device (the laptop). Again, this is no different than what several of us are rollin'.

If I had / wanted to replace my CD player, I would be replacing my CD player. I wouldn't be buying it as a 'backup'. It's function (primary or backup) also changes as I see fit - and can change show to show if I felt like doing so. When I broke into the digital world, I did not buy a machine as a 'backup' - but it did indeed serve as a backup in the event my CD players crashed.

I have several sets of speakers than can be classed as I see fit - and do change often, depending on the show / venue

Talk about comprehension! I never said you said you were a sound engineer, but you brought up the fact that you have studied electronics in a defense to show you really know what your talking about when it comes to sound. Knowing how to read a resister doesn't make one know about sound.

No doubt you have many good things to share and teach, but you calling a spade a spade as you put it and calling us all mediocre (obviously compared to you) at least in print makes you look like an arrogant, know it all. As you've said in past threads, you're not an "ordinary" DJ. Fact is you handle big sound for events, but big sound is not always needed for us lowly Wedding DJ types. Reverb is not needed for the Blessing, Toasts, etc. All that processing you proclaim is needed really isn't.

No doubt you have many good things to share and teach, but you calling a spade a spade as you put it and calling us all mediocre I did not call ALL medicore, I was referring to some. I guess the truth hits home to some. (obviously compared to you) at least in print makes you look like an arrogant, know it all. As you've said in past threads, you're not an "ordinary" DJ. Fact is you handle big sound for events, I handle mainly small as well as medium events up to about 500. but big sound is not always needed for us lowly Wedding DJ types. Reverb is not needed for the Blessing, Toasts, etc. All that processing you proclaim is needed really isn't.
How would you know if its needed if you have never used it? Other answers above is in red.

Again, just a little correction. The MEP 7000 I bought IS a Controller and A Dual CD/MP3 Player. I use it to control Traktor Software and in the case of the Laptop going down it can do everything the Laptop does. It can access a HD directly has its own Soundcard and can do Blends, fades, fast cuts, mixes, auto mixes etc. That is why it costs $1,500.00 So it is more than just a Dual CD Player.

Well...do you forget who mod's the gear section?? Sparky and ME. I've asked you via PM before to ease up a little on the preaching as i see this coming along time ago.... Answer this, Have you completed your tri-amped system you were building??

Fella's - can we give it a rest? Can't we all just get along?

Let's agree that we all disagree about something - and move on. This is not an attack forum. We're here to help each other learn and grow. NO ONE here knows everything.

Let's lead by example.

I don't have to be intimidated by fear as to who is The Mod for this Forum. I have done nothing wrong. On the contrary I have been attacked by a few with a pack of lies and twisting of my words and all I am doing is responding and defending myself. I have not violated any rules or TOS and I don't see where the Label "preaching" applies. I am not telling anyone what to do. This discussion would have died a long time ago had it not been for the attacks. Go back and read each post from the beginning and you will see who started it and where.

I don't know everything but when I do open my mouth I know what I am talking about.

How many times have I heard that statement.
Sarge, If you have a statement to say or an answer to a question do YOU open your mouth if you are not convinced you know what you are talking about? I don't think you would and neither would I. All I hear is arguments about the Thread I posted, not one person has proved me wrong.
The Heading Reads "Why Processing Can Be Beneficial To Active/Powered Speakers" Is it or isn't it? Whether or not one chooses to use it is not the issue.

wait are we talking about processing through customs like when they ship to Canada? Well of course they both need processing.

And no intimidation is being used...i've tried to ask you nicely about how you are to people on here and it has gone to deaf ears. And i've been told it's like talking to a brick wall.
I haven't touched a post of yours yet, And i don't want to either... But the fact of the matter is that you rub some people the wrong way, And not your hearing about it... It even happens to me.
