Steve you are so ridiculous in your assertions! Have you ever heard of, "if it ain't broken don't fix it?" Probably not. Have you ever heard that in business you try to maximize profits, probably not because you are a hobbyist who may not care about treating what you do as a business. I have some equipment that has served me for years. Listening to you, some will think that everything in my rack is 30 years old. LOL like they were making Pioneer MEP 7000 and Crown XTis in the 70s.
I post new equipment on here from time to time just for the information. I may make a recommendation as to its application. At no time do I TELL folks that they should go out and buy it.
Your assertion about having to first own something to know how it works is BS. I don't have to own a tube preamp to know what it can do. My Electronics training has taught me that in theory so I know what to expect. Again you use words such as "Lecture" to describe me so that you can get sympathy in your quest to put me down.
The thread started out in one direction with a specific subject matter and the latter half of it is all filled up mainly by attacks initiated by you. Of course others who are in your band wagon would not see that, so I get the blame. No problem! I am a grown adult, I can take it. I don't have to go crying to the mods and ask them to close the thread. I love a healthy debate and as you can tell I am not a quitter.
Every Good business plan includes replacement of gear at regular intervals.....You now profess to have 2 or 3 businesses; obviously your "business" savvy isn't that great or you'd be living off of it, right? I guess then you are a hobbyist or part timer, just like me. The difference is, my business plan doesn't include a $1500 back up cd player (I'm smart enough to know there are as good solutions for much less money).
