I say, if you like the car, buy it.

But if you are concerned that your clients may be put off of by the expensive car, then use a different car for client meetings.

It really depends on the type of clients you have. If your clients are mostly "peter Merry" type clients, then i don't think they would be put off.

If your clients are more budget minded, they may be put off. Personally i like driving a comfortable car that stays neutral, doesn't say "too expensive" but doesn't say "might not make it to the reception".

No matter what, the car you drive will tell people something.
 
My fiance and I waited for them to come out, went to buy one, and were broken hearted...

they're so under powered it made me sick...

it could never pull my trailer, and bogged down going up steep hills....

the gas mileage is supposedly pretty bad because it's so under powered. the two people I know who own them both say the same thing... they're dogs... the lack of passing power is frustrating, but they look good...

I'm getting an H2.... that's my dream car...

The wifey said as soon as the $3000.00 left on my truck payments is gone, and the engagement ring is paid off, and I give her $2000.00 for a rainy day, I can buy my Tank!

I realize it's not exactly an eco friendly vehicle either, but I don't really care. I've wanted one since I first laid eyes on them...

and contrary to popular belief, they do not get as poor gas mileage as people think.... I get worse mileage with my 6 cyl dodge pickup.

as for what anyone thinks, screw em' drive what you want...

I have a T-shirt that says "Nothing says "I'm A Dick" like a HUMMER!" :)

You are not alone in this opinion......my entire family (wife, daughter, and myself) think Hummers are butt-ugly....

in reality, an "H-3" is a Chevy Suburban with fancy trim

What *would* make a positive statement to your prospects & clients?

Toyota Highlander Hybrid... this vehicle costs about the same as the H3, but would get DOUBLE THE GAS MILEAGE.

It makes the statement "I'm successful AND environmentally conscious"

(sure wish Chrysler would come out with a gas-electric Hybrid Minivan....) ;)
 
hmmm... tax write off? that's great....

we'd be on the surviving end of any accident? even better...

how do you lose?

and just think of what you could build with all those metric tons of carbon?

a big wall? your own ski slope? maybe a carbon fort?

all I see are positives, I don't understand the fuss.... ;)
 
Um,......My other car is a Saturn?



Actually, I've got a thing about big vehicles now. I've owned Lincoln Continentals, Caddy Coupe de Villes and others. A couple of years ago I was just driving along, and began noticing how many SINGLE FAMILY homes had 2,3 and even 4 trucks, vans, big cars, etc.. in their driveways. To justify the NEED for these guzzlers one would have to have 15 people living there. Of course, the truth was there was a single driver per, and most with no need for the size......Kinda icked me out, watching the cause of the 2.50 - 3.00 gas prices.

Of course, in our industry we need at least one decent sized vehicle for the equipment. In my case my other car really IS a Saturn ( 8 gallon tank and mucho range), and I never drive the other one except for work.

I don't know how many clients opinions agree with mine, but the Hummer could be seen as a symbol of excess.

This is just my opinion ( and only became so in the last few years). No knock in tended. I was just illustrating why that opinion may exist for clients....

BTW- I sold the Continental to get the Saturn. I could have paid cash, but took a loan for tax purposes. The monthly payment on the Saturn was ONE THIRD of what I spent per month on GAS for the Lincoln. The Saturn averages - even at these prices- less than 75.oo/month for gas, handles magnificently in any weather, and has the best service record I've ever seen. One other thing: For small karaoke parties I can fit a CD player, mixer/amp, 2 15" speakers, stands for both, a monitor, mic stand, monitor stand, 12 1-1/2" karaoke books, 700 discs, kit bag, mini-board, a folding rack (hand made), mini light set-up, plus all mics, cable, and accessories. It's all in how you pack. Oh yeah, I fit (barely) too...

You must have missed the post where I said just how good the deal was on the Hummer...

The lease payment on the Toyota is almost double.

If I could find another 4 wheel drive that I can get for $300 a month, I will go look at them.
 
Going to a private school you see ALOT of them, they do spell success, however if you get an H3, it shows that your just a wannabe. (I tell you want I want what I really really want) ;)

They still guzzle gas... Success to me is shown more by an H2, ironcially I rode in one today lol NHS relay event with like the main sponsor parents of our school, i felt like I was on lifestyle of the rich and famous, the lady who was driving is the nicest lady ever, you would never think of her as being stuck up or anything, neither is her daughters.

The truth be known.....
It will be Sandy's car. She only drives about 3 miles to work.
I will sell my truck and start driving her 40 MPG
Toyota Corolla ( :sqembarrassed: ) the 25 miles each way to my day job
