Come on Canute and so if you say it then it must be true right? Ilove ya man but seriously so now your going to say my system sounds bad? Anyone elses for that matter? You havent heard it yet your intelligence allows you to speak of this without fail? I guess I will have to refund all my customers cause I have been fraudulent in delivering unsavory sound. Then again I dont use Island natural ailment and sickness methods nor waterless cooking Im damned across the board.

Again you guys are so caught up in just what you want to hear that you just don't get it. I never said your system sounds bad. How could I say yours or anyone's system sounds bad when I have never heard it/them. I said THAT WITH SOME GOOD PROCESSING A SYSTEM CAN CERTAINLY SOUND BETTER since no two venues are alike and no one system is a do it all for all venues.

Placement has the most impact on the sound for any system in a given room. Some have ears on their head others dont and need tools to make proper adjustments. I do use EQ minimally. From one song to the next you ften need to adjust.

I think this whole conversation has gotten away from the original post, which actually had several different points in it. Each point not necessarily supporting another.

I have a theory now as to why so Many DJs are going powered speakers and hooking up straight from mixer to Speakers. They don't have a clue as to how to hook up equipment that includes processing etc. Duh. What's the difference from this and going from mixer to amp to speaker? Same thing ain't it?

Last night I dropped by to see what was going on with a new Sunday night production at a club where I sometimes DJ and do rentals. My friend the bartender introduced me to the promoter and I could tell he was having issues with the DJ. First, the DJ came only with his Laptop, two CD Players/controllers and a mixer. He was attempting to plug in to another guys two speakers, one powered and one passive (Dual 15's each) and an amp.

He was attempting to commit the most outrageous sin. Yep, you guessed it, he was trying to use a Patch cable backwards. Since he did not have the necessary cables it was going to be a complete mess. The guy had no clue what he was doing. He was attempting to use the patch cables left and right from the mixer to one side of the amp. (Backwards).
He was attempting to connect the one active speaker to the amp using the Common Terminals from Channel 1 and Channel 2. The amp was not in bridged mode. Had he done that, the amp would have short circuited.
He only had one cable coming from the Master Out, so he had that going to the Powered speaker.
He did not have the power cord to the powered speaker.

I had to shoo him away and hook up the system so it could play. Just play! It sounded terrible with no EQ or processing. I could not bear it so I got out of there. The promoter now wants to hire me to do Sundays. If he has the money, I have the time.
That guy calls himself a DJ. I wish guys will take the time to go take a short course in Basic Electronics from their Community College or something so that know what the Hell they are doing. That amplifier and speaker he was hooking up incorrectly would have been toast without my intervention.

This guy apparently didn't know how to hook up anything, regardless whether there was any processing or not, so all this doesn't really support the no processing statement.

Well I did think it was a shame that he called himself a DJ and literally did not know squat. that was simply disgusting. These are the kinds of guys to which I mainly refer.
