Hello!

As described in the thread here: http://ourdjtalk.com/threads/40948-...c-djing-quot-Busking-quot?p=467040#post467040

I'm planing to get out and start djing in parks and on the street.

Now the problem is that I dont know what kind of gear to get.

Im trying to limit the gear use as much as possible since I will have to move it alot.

Im thinking of getting a 2 channel mixer that is small and portable, a laptop, a woofer, 1(?) 2 speakers and a "pirra" to drive it all around on.

Im most concered about the mixer, since I can't seem to find one that is small, but yet of okey quality.

So if anyone could direct me or discuss with me, gear that I could get. I would be very happy

An okey post I guess. I did try to search, but Ill try again.

Thank you.

Thanks for the answer! I really appreciate every bit of info I can get!

Ill look more into this.

Peavy Escort. Netbook computer. Virtual DJ or Rockit. A card table. A knapsack. Small external drive to hold the music, maybe 160 Gb. Miniplug to RCA adaptor. Plug the miniplug into the headphone jack of the netbook. Connect the RCA to the Aux in of the Escort.

The escort is on wheels. The netbook will fit in the knapsack. The knapsack goes on your back, you carry the card table in one hand and pull the escort with the other. Now that's portable.

I'm actually going to vote against the Escort. We had one and it was a piece of junk. Ended up selling it at a loss just to get the "gray turd" out of the garage.

Made it more reality based for ya!

I guess I got lucky. I used this system as an extra system for ceremonies, cocktails, and such. Like most of the equipment I had left, it is at the lodge and is used for Zumba, Bingo, Country Line Dancing, and events outside. It is doing a very good job.

Ours was to be used for ceremonies, but the system never performed well enough during testing for us to actually use it.

Lovley post! Thanks a bunch.

Im currently reading up on some thing I might need to power everything!

But it is progression!

I would suggest the Rock N Roller (R12) multi cart (with the shelf accessory) as the platform for a rig like this. You could have a small generator and whatnot below and use the shelf as your table to DJ on. Plenty of room, durability and functionality for a truly mobile setup.

You guys never cease to amaze me!

The Rock N Roller (R12) with the shelf is a good idea. Instead of a generator maybe a Duracell DPP-600HD Power Pack. This would eliminate the noise of a generator.

Come on, play the game. You might think that this guy is a bottom feeder but maybe we can all put together an ultra portable system that can be used for ceremonies.

There's also an expandable wood deck kit available for the RnR. I'd have to measure the width of the legs on the Escort stand but I think it can be set up on the deck kit. That way you can attach the shelf to put the netbook and drive on, have the Escort set up fully on the deck of the RnR, and have the Duracell under the Escort. You can just roll it from place to place without taking it down or even turning it off.

When the day is over you can wheel it back to your car, break it down, and go home.

This whole idea could be used for DJs that might want to work Board Walks like the ones in Ocean City, MD or even Atlantic City, NJ. Who knows, maybe this could be a new form of DJing? :tritongue:

Don't assume that I am being serious in some of this but the portability of the above could be useful to some.

Why do I want to subscribe to something like this? The chap is clearly not doing this for profit. Since he will be playing for the public and nobody is hiring him, he then becomes the promoter. Maybe ASCAP will love to ask him a few questions. Here we have a so call Professional Group of DJs perpetuating an illegal venture.
Yep, you guys amaze me.

He lives in Sweden, what would ASCAP have to do with this...? Also, I have no clue and don't care to research it, but it also might be perfectly legal in his country...

Hey guys!

I will not be making any profit on this, so it won't be illegal for me to play in public!

I've spoke to some people and everyone have told me to power the speakers with a car battery!

And I've seen some "killer" speakers, but I have no idea what they're called! Horrible :(

But things is going forward and I feel that it's great!
And I see that you guys got some discussion, please keep writing ideas and what you feel it's great! :)
