Uplighting...

I charge two prices for up lighting. A cheaper package for static colors all night and a more expensive package for DMX custom lighting. If it is static, I just set the dip switch, plug it in and move on. DMX requires runs of cable, programming, etc. I use the Blizzard RGBA puck lights.

Anybody using the Chauvet LED SlimPar Pro 56 RGBA to do their up lighting? I saw Hollywood dj mention the need to have amber in the mix for brides. Wanted to know if it's worth the investment to upgrade to Pro series ...or can you drop an amber gel on a regular SlimPar 56 RGB to get by? Thoughts?

I'm using them on my facade.....

I only got 4 (non-amber) to start with but am about to place a larger order for more. Those little dudes put out a bunch of light. Not sure what the RGBA looks like though.

Why the huge gaps on your facade?

I sold my first uplighting package back on August 10th 2007. It was a measly 2 fixtures... Now we have 80 fixtures, and it's to the point where I had to purchase 16 custom cases to transport these puppies. We have a couple dates this year where all 80 fixtures will be used between 3-4 events.

Forgot to mention that these fixtures are DMX controlled everytime... it's a lot of damn wires

Uplighting is a great service to offer depending on how you structure it.

Hey cerebro whats the most common length of DMX cable you find yourself using? 10ft, 15ft, 25ft?

Do you recommend just buying a ton of 10ft cables and then connecting multiple 10ft runs to make a longer cable when needed or buying a large amount of each length to have on hand

What about power cable lengths?

Thanks

95% of the room lighting packages we do are a 20 fixture quote. The data bag we use has (25) 25 foot DMX, (4) 50 foot DMX, and (10) 3 foot DMX. There's also a backup dongle in the bag incase one of them decides to go out on us.

GREAT info!!! Are you using add-a-taps on those 25/50 footers?

I'm using add a taps on the 125 foot wire wheels we have. I think I have them spaced every 5 feet...
