Illuminate the walls, columns, curtains, whatever to make the backdrop behind the head table or maybe just one end of the room. Eventually utilize Gobo Spot for "initials" or message (I don't have a gobo projector...yet). Want the blue Bliss light affect for the ceiling of the room. The "pucks" that I have may be fine for not-so-high walls, but for doing a 15-20 feet Column/Arch, I most likely will need something more powerful/intense. I don't want the "heat" factor of par cans.
The 904 Flatpar-Pro is not that bright, in my opinion. However, the desired color can be set before you leave the house for the venue, which saves time. Also, they can be linked by both power and DMX cable. The internal programs are not that great compared to some others that I have seen.
I also have two excellent LED light strips that are about 40" long with 252 10mm size LEDs...Omnisistem. These are bright! I could use a couple more but at $244 ea, I think not!
Got to have more future gigs in order to afford additional lights. I hate credit card interest!!!!

If you sell per can you're always going to have brides who want to buy 5 cans and think it's going to properly light their room. You'll ALWAYS be coming up short on fixtures.

I don't own pucks but I have the flat pars from eternal. I have a 20+ wall in my apartment believe it or not and have tested out my flat pars and they light the entire wall up! When I read you didn't think they would be enough I found that hard to believe!!! Don't get caught up in the new 3w fixtures, wether its an uplight or speaker or mixer, you know as soon as you buy the latest model, the next week a better new improved design is released.
I am going to try to take a picture from my cell phone and upload it showing the flat par shining up a 20ft wall when I get home to help put your worries at ease!
have you tried shooting your flar par horizontally across a wall? since you don't have a 20ft wall to test them vertically you can see how good they shine down a long hallway or something to give you an ideal of how much throw you have.
Freestyler should be your choice of controller too! imho, having any problems with freestyler?
Shane...thanks for suggestions. When I speak of "puck" I'm talking about the 904 FlatPar Pro from Eternal Light Company. Perhaps I should take a peak at the Eternal Flatt Par that you referenced. What is the actual model number of those. Are they the same light as mine?

Yes we are talking about the same light. I have the same model you have. You need to give these lights a try before you start doubting them! I don't know how you could go so long with out playing around with freestyler if you already purchased the dongle! You should log off ODJT immediately and hook up a few lights into freestyler and start learning. Well as promised I took some photo's but that wasn't good enough so I shot some video for you. Excuse the spider web in the corner, its hard to reach and I need to buy one of those webster thingys to help get those hard to reach corners ;-)

Thanks for all the input guys....after reading through everything, this is a little more than we want to jump into right now, so we are probably just going to upgrade our powered speakers instead.
Your extended willingness to help is most appreciated. Thanks for the YouTube display. Yes, the par does shoot a pretty high beam. I must confess, I did use 4 of them at a wedding reception in early March, but was not impressed because of the low tent wall. Actually, it was a restaurant patio with a tent-side (the kind with the plastic window framed archs, white in color, clear windows). There were two colums in the middle of the run that held up the roof or overhang, so-to-speak.
The height was probably 8-9 feet of the tent wall...not much height to really tell. Anyway, I had a flat par shining up each of the colums and the other two were placed to shine up the center of the two windows. Actually, they looked pretty good except there was a iron railing in front of the tent wall all the way from one end to the other. I used the Master & 3 slave setup. Cool when all you need do is set the Master to the desired effect and the others automatically mirror it. I'm still having trouble setting the LED display to other than the static colors. I did download a color chart but for some reason I can't make that last (color chanel work for me)...the rainbow affect.
Last night after reading your post about "getting started" with Freestyler, I started to read the "The Freestyler Guide" which made no sense whatsoever. I will activate the program today, but have many questions already. Like, the two samples offered by Mr. Lelek. I don't have those lights...or maybe you don't need the lights but only work with the "setup" configuration. Did you find the 904 Flatpar Pro's attributes came up automatically?

I made a fixture profile in freestyler for the flatparpro, I am at my day job so I don't have it to share with you. The puck is identical to the flat par pro, go to blizzards website and download thier freestyler fixture for thier RGB puck, it WILL work with your flat par pro. After you have the fixture file from blizzard and hook up your dongle your good to go.
I have to admit I have tried to read the freestyler guide and it suddenly turns into another language and makes ZERO sense to me too! I learned by trial and error with no prior dmx experience. Try just hooking up 1 par to freestyler and figure out how to turn on the lamp, that was my biggest hurdle, now I lol at myself at not knowing how to do such a simple thing, but hey we all start somewhere! After you figure out how to turn the lamp on, changing the color is simple.
I honestly think you will get a whole new perspective on your investment after you see what kind of control you have over them with freestyler(or dmx period)

Shane...mediocre success. But, I do understand the Chapters 1 and 2 of The Freestyler Guide. It took me 3 readings. I still have yet to add my dongle and fixtures for play. I do have a question regarding the blizzard freestyler fixture "download."
What is the Blizzard_Lighting_Puck-RGBA_LED_7ch.SSL file that I downloaded from the Blizzard site? [I couldn't open 'cause I don't know what program created it.]
What is the PuckRGBafree (packed fixture file)? [ I clicked on it and it is the "profile" of the Blizzard. How dumb of me! I hate to just click on things without really knowing what will happen.

Niether one of those sound right, it certainly isn't the RGBA version unless you have the RGBA version of the 904 flat par. I actually backed up all my freestyler files online so I am trying to find it and I will share the link.

Finally, I was able to get it into the Freestyler fixture list. Yea! Have not hooked up DMX cable and computer to lights. Maybe tonight...? I think I'll use them on a T-bar (4 fixtures), but will load each one independently vs. Master/Slave to see how Freestyler works.

Profiles for the Puck and the Eternal Flat par should be the same, just make sure you have them set up correctly for the mode you intend to use (3ch or 6ch). As most of you know, we are dealers for both Blizzard and Eternal... and both are currently in stock. The 3W versions are in a heavily backordered situation with both mfgs, so if that is a fixture of interest to you please let me know ASAP so we can try to get you in the allocations quickly. We also have hundreds of Chauvet Slimpar56 in stock at the moment.
