I was picking up some other lighting from a local dealer when he showed me this small, simple Laser effect. You've seen it in video's but you would NOT believe the coverage and brightness of this thing!! I was blown away...so much in fact that I bought two on the spot. They are cheap, and will fill a gym ceiling with a pair of them - no joke. I'll take it to my HS dance saturday and include it in my promo video to share with you all. A small cool effect for small parties, teen events, whatever.

Which scorpian did you get there are several different ones

Crap...I have no idea??? The one with crazy coverage????? I'll have to check out the model number.

Storm, I believe. I have one. Love it. Lots of coverage, especially on a high ceiling. I did make the mistake of using it outside last year, fairly near the airport. Fortunately, the feds didn't come a-knockin. :sqeek:

Interested to see the end result of the Scorpion RGX...that is what you purchased, correct?

Yep, that's what I picked up. Check out the video, as you'll see I just set the laser on my amps behind me shooting on the ceiling....great coverage. For the money it's a pretty cool effect!

Nice setup! Is that really 4 srx725s??? At first I thought the rear projection was one of those videos, but you topped that concept! Do you have a set of speakers on the backside too? It almost looks like you are a DJ in the round. Very, VERY cool! :sqcool:

Scott

Thanks Scott. Yep, I brought out the big boys to give these kids a taste of what their prom will sound like. No speakers on the other side, but.....hmmmmmmmm.......maybe I'll work that into next years budget:sqbiggrin: Kids LOVE to dance behind the screens. Even if you just buy a couple DJ fabric screens and use some par cans to light them from behind it's a cheap addition to your dances that will make a big impact.

I love videos like this. Your gear is off the hook. I always get the urge to run out and buy a big system like that. Then I look at my checking account every month and come back down to reality.

Nice set up man!

Great setup...the lighting is phenominal!

Kris...would you mind listing the various types of lighting you used for this project?

The screen projection seriously made the event that much more exciting. Kids love to see themselves on camera and the silouette action was again exceptional.

Pat yourself on the back...you've earned it.

Thanks everyone. For this set up I used:

2 250 watt movers. They are a non-branded straight from China import. They are very similar to the Elation Design Spot, which we just got 4 in so we'll start using them too. The back wall was uplit with 4 meter LED bars. Again I get these fixtures before they are branded from a local light guru here in KC at a fraction of the cost! The truss was warmed with 4 3-watt LED fixtures. Same deal as the others, these are INCREDIBLE lights...as you can see they are shooting all the way to the top of the 30' ceiling. You can color blend right on the light it's self. I just bought 20 more, they are the perfect wedding up-light. The video screens were showing a couple different ambient video series from Promo Only via two Dell 2400 projectors sitting on the ground. I ran the video through my video mixer, so if the kids ever got inappropriate (which they did only once) I can just fade to black...they get the picture quickly. The laser was of course the Chauvet Scorpion RGX. I hazed the gym easily with the Hasebase hazer. Very similiar to the Radiance in performance, but higher output and comes built into a flight case - very cool.
