Your contract is clear and concise. It just doesn't give her all the power and control she's looking for. Good riddance.
Your contract shouold be an instrument in which you have spent many hours laboriously covering every aspect in which you wish to conduct YOUR business. Your contract should, and must, comply with your state laws. Your contract should be consistent, and should never deviate from one client to the next (past practices principle is applicable here).
The minute you began deviating from your contract is when you begin to loose any chance of being succesful in a litigiation that may arise from the execution of your contract.
From what you have stated here, this mother of the bride will turn out to be nothing but a real problem. It's the bride whom you should be trying to please and satisfy.
Tell mom she raised a fine daughter, with a good head on her head, who knows what she wants. Then tell mom, politely, to leave the room so you can discuss the wedding plans with the bride.
Time for mom to let the apron strings go!
Otherwise----believe me---waLK AWAY FROM THIS GIG!
If it's any consolation, neither do I. And I'd wager, neither does the venue manager who got put on the hot seat.... I just don't understand why some parents act like this. All it does is put every vendor on pins and needles and ruins that "feel good" atmosphere that a wedding is supposed to be.

It would seem that Mom has the attitude of "I know how to handle contracts. Let me deal with this." In doing so she's blown the whole thing way out of proportion.
After thinking about this I can't help but wonder if Mom has ulterior motives... like scrutinizing vendor contracts in search of a way to get her money back afterwards.
Wouldn't be the first time it's been tried.
I feel for the B&G. It would seem that they're getting the short end of the stick.
My understanding is: contract and agreement are legally synonymous.

The kids are probably going to get pregnant when mom wants a grandchild. They'll live were she wants them to live and they'll have to ask permission for whatever they want to do.
