Weddings What's the worst you have seen a DJ Do?

To many ads? Support ODJT and see no ads!
But, to answer your question, get falling down drunk and pick a fight with the groom.

That happened a few years back in a room next to me. I was just packing up when all hell broke out in the room nextdoor. I went over to find out what was happening and saw some folks dragging the DJ out.

Apparently the DJ was drunk when he arrived and took advantage of the open bar.

He didn't even bother to line folks up for the introductions. He got on the mic and told the bridal party to line up so that they could get "this f'in sh** done." That's when the groom asked him to pack up and leave and he took a swing at the groom.

For those of you in this area, he was a delightful DJ; I think you can figure that out.

One of the bridal party was a fellow DJ and he took over using the removed DJs gear.

Yes, I did offer.

Amazing that company is still around.

They can't be booking off referals or reputation.

The only thing I can say is WOW, at a wedding you have got to be kidding! Must have been one of those "worth" DJs!:sqlaugh:

The DJ at a small bar in Sacramento let the computer do all the work for him for about 40 minutes. Did not even stay in the booth. Just walked away.

Was at a country club about 6 years ago, so I go to the other room to meet the DJ before I play. It turned out to be the son (read: heir apparent) of a large DJ company in the area. The guests were seated, eating dinner, and the DJ was in his booth. No music was playing at all. I went up to him and said hello (we knew each other) and asked what he was doing. He casually said "Just looking for a song." I'm thinking "How about you have songs playing while you pick another one."

Anyway, he picks a CD and cues it up, then grabs the mic (it was laying on the mixing board, on) and introduces the song. He the lays the mic back down while it's still hot, so the bumping noises were loud, then plays the song.

I left thinking that we live in a strange world as DJs.
 
never saw this one, but I guy I used to DJ with was at this wedding.

the DJ was older. brought his son along to help load gear. during the gig, the kid, dressed in jean shorts, sat ON one of the speakers. (he had two big friggin cabinets) the DJ chain smoked most of the nite, and would slowly walk over to the CD players and press play. but usally long after he SHOULD have started the next song, as there were many spots of dead air, or songs that faded way too long.

wasn't anything horrible...it was just consistently bad all night.
 
I am responsible for my actions and will be judged in the end accordingly. What another does might cast positive or negative light on the industry but my referrals wont be swayed as they know what they are getting from me. Those who make a splash judgement on the industry arent open minded and will do as they see fit regardless. I focus on those that understand. If one wastes all their talent and effort on pointing fingers at the others they impede the progress and positive that they have to offer.
 
Talent is a gift - not learned, but God given.

Attitude is learned - not given.

Taken together they can produce wonderful results.

But one without the other...well, we've all heard the stories...
 
The worst was me going with the family to a Quince of her part of the family and the Dj played upbeat Reggaeton music while eating dinner and moments of silence while people were dancing.
 
I saw a guy pick his nose at the DJ controls in front of 200 people eating salad!!!
