a little known trivia treat. Original members of Journey formed from Santana and had Neal Schon as lead singer prior to Steve Perry. The album was a cut out and then revived once they gained fame with Perry in 1978. In 1977 the band hired Robert Fleischman and transitioned to a more popular style, akin to that of Foreigner and Boston. Journey went on tour with Fleischman in 1977 and together the new incarnation of the band wrote the hit "Wheel in the Sky." But fans were lukewarm to the change, and personality differences resulted in Fleischman being fired within the year

Brett Michaels was too calcuted, all his songs were tailored to make him sound good. And the songs were good, I am a big Poison fan.
Sebastian Bach had more range though IMO and Skid Row already had a sound that SB had to fit to when he got on board, he wasnt an original Skid Row, just a hired gun. As with Perry, the albums made with him on board are considered the better Skid Row albums.
Yeah, I'm of the opinion that Sebastian was the best vocalist of that genre beginning-to-end hand-down. He had a range and power that no one could touch and unlike the others who had "on-off" switches, he could transition from a clean tone to a grind seamlessly. All that, AND he had the best hair... so there ya go!
For other guys, I prefer Robert Plant, Freddie, and Thom Yorke.
Though they would never make it onto my "best male of all-time" lists, I have soft-spots for Kind Diamond and Rob Halford too... As well as Frank Mullen. All have their place and influence and have spawned imitators and emulators in their respective genres. Cobain, Chris Cornell (YOUNG CC), and Layne Staley make that list for me too.
I try to look at these things as a mix of personal preference and legacy that has been left or mark that is made. This approach finds me being more honest and giving more props where they are do when my personal likings alone might not have gone there.

Would listing Bob Dylans accolades and accomplishments make him a great singer, not by a longshot, but he had "IT" . Same with Jagger, he has "IT" and the Stones have accomplished a lot, but take all that away and Mick is an average singer at best IMO.
