I want to exude class and style (yeah, really). :sqlaugh:

And wearing street clothes is not the way when loading into a venue.

That said, what do you wear?

I was thinking of having a nice white polo w/ logo (to be created) and nice pair of neutral colored kacki shorts for summer and of course, full length for winter.

What say you?

I believe for load ins comfortable khaki's and a Polo shirt would be fine, the only thing I would'nt do is getting white shirts get a color that will hide stains. You never know what you may rub into and white just shows every single stain ;)

I wear a nice striped golf shirt and khakis for set up. A patterned shirt is a must if you drink coffee on the way or happen across some dirt on your car.

young...

Some things to consider.

The type of venue.

What time of day you are loading in.

How much gear you're toting.

In the summer time I'm usually in some khaki shorts and a company log polo shirt, same for tear down and load out.

I have heard of places that tell the DJ they have to be in a Suit or Tux even during load in and tear down. Hope that never happens to me, especially when I'm setting up a large lighting package. I have been ask by one Uppity B@#*h if I was planning on wearing my shorts and polo for the reception, I held up the suit bag that I was carrying on my shoulder and just smiled and kept walking.

During the summertime I wear khaki shorts and a black wicking shirt. If you sweat while setting up and don't wear a shirt that wicks persperation away, you don't know what you are missing. Google it if you do not know what I'm talking about. They can be had relatively cheap too if you shop around.

I'm not as professional as some of you so I don't have logo polo's, but I do wear black shorts, a black polo, black shoes...

If I know that I am going to eat on the way, I wear a reg "T" then change before I get to the venue.

I also have a black "ball cap" if I am outside, and I wear black shades...

It all depends on the weather and where we're going. Too hot and humid and it's street clothes. Winter time, probably my kahkis and my undershirt for the night. Ducky comes to the gig looking better...she's gets things set with the venue while I'm beginning setup.

you should see when they are setting up to when they are working

do we say anything about what they are wearing then ? no because its not up to them on what we are wearing to set shows up as long as its NOT near the clients and you have a change of clothes to do the real work where it counts

I have roadies that setup for me and they wear black pants (can be black jeans for all I care) and a Polo shirt that has the words Roadie on the back and a "Trebleclefdj" on the pocket at the front

so basicly next time a venue asks you that question then ask them so what do you wear when YOUR setting up then your NEW Suits ??

Usually for weddings, nice dress shirt, tie..(no clip on)...black slacks or khakis..and nice dress shoes..sometimes I wear a tux jacket. Sometimes a nice sweater.

Other events...nice t shirt, jeans...sometimes a nice ball cap..depending on event.

It all depends on how formal the event is, and what my clients have ok'ed me to wear.

I've thought about the Polo thing..but some people just don't like Polos..including me, if they are too ugly.

So you wear a tux when your setting up your gear ??

mmm I would like to see that one :)

Indeed I do....

I keep my stuff real clean...and my setups only takes like 15 minutes..hardly breaking me a sweat.

Oh yea..I occasionally bump into dust on the vehicle sometimes.....a little water helps me out usually.

Very cool, do you have a pic or two of your setup? That sounds awesome.

mmmm...

I don't think there is a right or wrong for this. I have worn shorts and a Yankees' shirt with summer sandles or Crocks. No one says a word to me..I've worn my black suit slacks, my black tux pants.

I say wear whatever you feel comfy in. Regardless of the venue. What I wear for my reception is a totally different story. Either a tux or suit.
