Songs that you "have" to play but can't stand...

Miley Cyrus - Hoedown Throwdown

The younger folks just can't seem to get enough of it. It's one of those songs that makes me say, "Do I reeeeally want to be a DJ?" :sqlaugh:

To be honest, I find it hard to stomach most Miley Cyrus songs. I don't know why. But I will say my dislike for her grew after she said she'd "ruin" Radiohead. :sqbiggrin:

ya the song is pretty lame.... I agree.... but, if it makes the little kiddies happy and it gets me paid.... no problem.... with the exception of explicit music (which I wont play when the audience includes kids within ear shot) I'll play almost anything if it gets em off their asses and on the dance floor.

Case in point last night I was asked for Let's Get Married by Jagged Edge.... I have both versions a clean and explicit... they asked for the explicit version but, I told her no because there were still kids here and she was ok with that.

100% agreed, this is a job that require sacrifice. I may not like all the music but I like getting paid. :sqcool:

What's worse is when somebody requests a song and they don't even dance to it when you play it. In fact, sometimes they act like they don't even hear it. :sqconfused:

That's why when somebody requests a song, I ask: Will you dance to it? Because that is my only requirement. If you request it, you must dance to it. They usually get my jest.
 
Old Time R&R seems to have passed its prime around here anyhow. It sweeps the floor if there's no alcohol.

If I never had to hear The Macarena again, I'd be happy. :)
 
Never been real fond of Closing Time by Semisonic...I'll play it and pretend I enjoy it.......Love Shack lost it's appeal a long, long time ago also.... Wouldn't go so far as to say I hate these songs, but they're definitely not something I'd listen to in my spare time... :sqwink:

At Last - Etta James...I just want to jump off the roof of the venue every time we have to play that d@mn song.

that make the ladies get up off there chairs here,the dance floor is always full of ladies for that song here.
 
I don't listen to anything I play at events. :sqconfused:

I have my business collection, and by personal collection, and even where the two overlap these selections/artists never get played at events.

I just keep holding out hope that *SOMEDAY* I'll play for a crowd that's as COOL as I am!:sqlaugh::sqcool::sqlaugh:
 
But we all have to remember one thing...


our own likes or dislikes isnt the question in what we do as a Dj

if it works it works
if it does not then well your doing it all wrong, then change the song...

Mony Mony - Not because it is a bad song, but because people do that little chant thing and it can put people off.
