If I was doing yer wedding tomorrow -- you could expect an interesting version of the C Dance

My Dad was the Chicken Dance King! And I always find ways to incorporate it into the show.

Sometimes I'd slide into the limbo, or maybe move to a slide.

It's a fun way to get folks involved, without having to teach them anything, or expecting them to do the moon walk, IMHO.

Cheesey, sure -- but that's what weddings are... ;) :)

I likely get it requested around 50% of the time. I dont use it unless its a must play. Polka type parties or my Ukrainian doo every year. I change it up and play different versions though to secure my sanity.

This is why I hire bands :sqwink:

You folks are too egotistical :sqerr:

When I'm paying -- you play what I want :)

Now there is the answer, and I think that is why I have a successful business!

NO EGO to get in my way!

But nobody said they wouldn't play it ( except maybe eezee , and I'm not sure he wouldn't, if asked ) ..... :sqerr: and Matt isn't here.

I almost never play it because I never get asked to, or am told not to.... but I would if asked.

We play it when requested. Some brides like it. They'll get the wedding party and anyone else who's game to dance. :)

As said above...

depending on the B&Gs custom playlist!! Plain and simple.

On my playlist you have several choices..and this song normally falls under...

I will rank it in order on the bride and grooms average list.

1) Only play if Requested
2) Must Play
3) Play if appropriate: Or if conditions will allow for song.
4) Do Not Play: This happens from time to time...but maybe only 5% of my weddings have elected to avoid this song at all costs.

Overall this song has kinda been one of those cornerstones for interactivity so it kind has become a tradition if you will. It's always fun to watch new youngins learning the song and trying to keep up with huge smiles on their faces.

I had a three year old last saturday with the biggest smile on her face, and she was trying her hardest to keep up. Very awesome!! Oh then we did the Hokey Pokey...lol..and this is another one of those songs that I find interesting. Can't say I hate either song...but I can't say I love them either.

I play it when asked for

also the

Hucklebuck

Time Warp

Bus Stop

Hokey Pokey

YMCA

Zorba's Dance

Let's Twist Again (or the Twist or one like they want)

Macarena

thats just a few that I use

Played the Chicken Dance (with international flair) tonight it is the only song where 90% of the guest were on the dance floor, the Electric slide was second with about 70% on the floor.

Dancing went down hill from there!

Groom came up about 1/2 an hour before close and asked me the play the Hokey pokey again about 90% of the guest (that were left) came up on the dance floor. The rest was 80's dance with about 10 to 15 rotating on the floor (slow songs generally brought a good group. And a set of Haitian Music requested by the Brides Brother, got three couples on the floor once the rest of the time it was the bride's brother and his wife. Played a couple of salas by request NO ONE DANCED to it.

Seems the only thing that worked was the cheese, oh yeah "The Twist" also worked to put about 25 on the floor.

You really don't DJ do you?:sqlaugh:

Steve, I can't speak for any other DJ here, but I am almost always told NOT to play those songs at weddings. Admittedly, I'm only doing 5 or 6 weddings a year, though. I can also tell you that in the 4 weddings I was a guest at in the last 3 years, the chicken dance was not played at all, and the macarena was played only once.

OTOH, I play the chicken dance AND the Macarena at almost every bubble party. :sqlaugh:

Hate to breeak the news to you DJ but I do have other songs in my library just like many other DJs here that I am sure have never played Chicken dance or Macarena in a long time. If it works for you great! I am just glad that it is you playing it and not me! :sqlaugh:
