Scott : When you have a chance, could you post the brand and model #? Also, the v/a capacity if you can locate it. 1 hour 10 minutes isn't that good. Was it fully charged?

I've got this one

and it's charging now. Gonna put it through some heavy duty paces tomorrow morning.

It is now my turn to say "Forgive my ignorance...", where why and how are you all planning on using this contraption?

In my testing it has proven very useful in water torture where a bit of juice is needed to really drive your point home with your victim... er.. I mean particapent.

I received my 2 Compacts today. Just as impressive as they were at the Mountain a few weeks ago. I'll be using both at a small party on Sunday. I'll let you know who they do.

Sarge,
With the compact L1 there is a designated mic line balance tone input XLR. You would plug in the lapel receiver just like any other mic. The power would run off and standard AC plug or external power source. You also have a mini in for an Ipod, as well as 1/4 for instruments and RCA for any line ins.

last night, i decided to bring the L1c system with me as a back up to my model 2 for a wedding. The original planner called for 160 people. When I got there, only spaces for 120. The hall person said there was no alcohol being served, so he thought there may even be less than that.

having both systems with me, i decided to hook up the compact to see how it sounded in the hall. It sounded excellent. I then (a little bit nervously) decided to try using the compact for the event, having my model 2 as a back up.

I hooked up a t1 to it(the t1 is also my sound card). plenty of mic volume. music sounded excellent.

Throughout the evening, not a ton of dancing, but it was plenty loud enough for the crowd. Tons of compliments.

The room was rectangle. I think about 68 feet by 76. I counted the ceiling tiles(I assumed them to be 4x2) the tiles were 17 by 38.

at the loudest part, the compact channel 2 was at 1 oclock (50 %). the t1 main volume was at 12(40%) and channel 4/5(my computer trim) was at 9oclock(25%). my computer output on ots was at 50%

it was green with a red clip here and there. I am sure with some tweaking, i could get it louder without clipping

walking around the dance floor, it was plenty loud enough. walking in the back of the hall, I could hear a much more noticeable drop off in volume that I wouldn't get with the model 2 or model 1, but for this crowd, it was simply not needed.

I would not hesitate to use this system again for parties up to this size. I also will always have one as a back up. At least from what I know now, I don't think I would use it as a main system for a party any bigger than this. But we do plenty of smaller parties like this

But, after one event, I see this system getting a lot more use than i envisioned when i bought it.

Great review! My question is was it just music being heard or was it full bodied sound?
My concern with these type of systems is that it makes it so easy for the wannabees who want to DJ to copy! Good luck man!

Thanks Scott,

I'll be hooking up my two compacts today and using them at a going away party for a one of our military hero's. I hooked up one last night at a wedding in one of my regular venues, just to hear it in this room. Nice coverage and good clear sound. Even the wait staff said it sounded nice. Of course this was before the guests arrived.

I know in todays VFW hall 2 compacts are going to be great. I'll roll in with then on my cart, set up in 5 mins, and have great sound for a well deserving hero.

I always said the Bose L1's were the best purchase I've ever made. I just found my 2nd best purchase.

I thought is was full bodied. not as much bass as the model 1 or 2 with 2 subs. but fine for this event.

there are plenty of less expensive systems out there for people who want to do it cheaper. this system does not change that.

So here I am setup for a send off party for a Marine. I've got Miles Davis Jammin on the Bose. All I can say is WOW. But I'm not the only one. A few others here have said the same. And the party continues.............

WOW is what I'd say too - seein' that he's been dead for 18 years! :sqlaugh:

Just messin' Ron.

Glad they're what you'd hope they'd be. Got a sec to get a picture or two of them in action? The Bose, Ron....the Bose....Focus! :)

Cheers,

Joe

Joe,
They are speakers, what do you want me get a picture of them doing? I'll see if I can get a picture of a girl using them as a stripper pole. :sqwink:

Just keeping my mind occupied.

Happy Mothers day to you mutha's out there as I know there are plenty of you.:sqwink:

They are kind of like the bigger ones...but more compact. :sqerr:

Exactly! Realizing that the speakers are only at the very top of the column... what else would you use the rest of the pole for?
