usb dmx : Velleman or Enttec

I'm considering the jump to software control.

Any one have any experience with either one of the above noted packages?

Pros? Cons? other solutions?

Can you run an audio from you mixer in to the laptop and run lighting off audio?

Enttec 100%. That is the only (non-proprietary) DMX dongel I sell.

is there any good free (or somewhat reasonable) dmx software out there to go with the Enttecs that you know of? Im trying to get started to get into dmx lighting as my future gear will be ran off of it, i have since purchased 2 dmx lights however they are not run via dmx as of yet.

Esoteric, any suggestions on models of the Enttec controllers?

Freestyler seems to be the popular choice. Go to Ebay and search on Enttec...

I use the Velleman with Freestyler. Eliminates the need for a 5 pin to 3 pin adapter, which was [to my knowledge and a while back], all that Enttec offered.

Enttec... used both Open and Pro... Great boxes... Wouldn't use anything else in this price range... the only program/ package that does a better job is Light Jockey, but in bang for your buck, not worth it...

i see they have two different ones? VM116 or the K8062, which one do you use?

I guess that's the main difference, a price difference. My Enttec does everything i want and more and i love that small foot print. Truly, a great mobile hardware.
