So, I just got done meeting with a client today who was swayed towards us with the addition of basic lighting to our DJ package.

On top of that Mom encouraged the addition of our lighting upgrade to add more fun lighting options to their wedding reception.

I know that most people here are not seeing the call as much as they may have in the past for lighting at your typical wedding reception... but, here in Indiana or at least my neck of the woods anyway it's become almost a requirment.

So what I did was created a basic lighting package to be included with the DJ service package that would include 2 color palettes and 2 HP 250DJScans.

Of course I did raise the price of the Wedding Package and when they do add the upgrade I have priced it so that I would get the same as I did before... like so:

Wedding DJ w/Lighting Package - 525.00
Lighting upgrade - 100.00
Total 625.00

Before it was like this:
Wedding DJ Package - 499.00
Lighting - 125.00
Total 624.00

See I still make the same and actually make a buck more....LOL

YMMV

Now before we go off in a tangent the prices I posted are for example purposes only and are not up for debate.... thank you.

The J Mac and I have always included lighting. It's up to the client on whether or not they want it. Lighting often comes up when folks are asking about our services. At some point, we might consider offering an option to upgrade from basic lighting, but that's only if we move into lasers and more sophisticated lighting and uplighting.

I always off a basic lighting package along with upgrades.

My basic included package includes
one of the following.

1.) 2 American DJ Mega-Panel, 1 American DJ Starball II, and/or (depends on size of crowd) 1 Chauvet VUE III

2.) A small uplighting package 6 Chauvet LEDRain56 cans, or up to 15 Elinator E-76 cans

3.) Monogram projection system

4.) Blisslight BL-15

Others can be added for additional fee.

Dance floor lighting package can be upgraded all the way to a 6 meter truss system with more than 24 lights.

I include some lighting with every package at no charge. Usually it's 2 Martin Raptors. The client can then upgrade to a 5 ft truss or a 10 foot truss. I have a decent arsenal of lighting available.

4 - SCX 600
2 - EFX 600
4 - Chauvet ColorPallets
2 - Martin Raptors
2 - Chauvet SX Gobo (for gobo projection)

That's a big enough light show for me.

Dang dude, that ain't no "Basic" package:)

I've always been reluctant to talk in these lighting threads because I am probably the only one here who REALLY has a BASIC lighting package! Almost (okay ACTUALLY) embarrassing really...

I'll definitely upgrade as time goes on, but it is what it is!

I was thinking much the same thing.....

To me 4 cans and 2 moving lights is basic

Nah... 2 Chauvet Pearl LED's and a Chauvet VUE III or Corona is a B.A.S.I.C light package... Thats what I throw in...

I don't even have any gobos or DMX controls yet:(

Officially, that above 3 lights plus fog on a t-bar is priced at $50 on my site as an upgrade. Full on 10' truss with Their choice of all lightning fixtures available is "Ultimate" package!:sqlaugh: (okay, so that term is relative... I don't wanna hear about it!):sqlaugh:

Uh, probably not....my basic package is 1 colorstrip!

So, do you guys think a B.A.S.I.C. light show that includes:

2 - Color Palettes
2 - ADJ HP DJScan 250

Would be too much?

Based on what Kevin is saying about just including the Color Strips.... that would be fairly close to having 2 Color Palettes in my mind anyway.

Thoughts?

PS My package description does not define what a Basic Light show is or what is included. I do that for the reason that I may update, replace or just bring something totally different from what I have in my mind now... by the time the gig gets here depending on venue and setup needs.

I include whatever lights I want to bring for the day....

I own an LED strobe, black lights, a mirror ball, a Vue III, a police beacon ( green LED ), 2 jamstars, a Colorwash Jr and a Sunray II.

EDIT: And an Acrobat which needs some works.

Yeah, my package descriptions only contain a picture of either the single t-bar or the full truss with a price and description saying "how many" fixtures are included in each, without naming names.

Since my fixtures are all listed in the same page, I tell them that they can pick whatever they want to fill those numbers, but generally they just go with whatever I'm doing at the time (currently all LED).

I try to list all my fixtures with pics of them in action, and if possible, links to the manufacturer site with movies.

Think you missed it. My free package is 2 Raptors.

Customers can then upgrade to larger packages.

I might have....

But, I'm thinking along the lines of very simplistic and typical to encourage upgrades to the less than usual lighting components.
