So now that I have my first lights and I've caught the bug, I need to start planning my next purchases.

Which FX lights are must have fixtures? They can be small or not. Looking for the best efects without fog, I don't imagine I'll be able to use fog much. I have (4) LED Par 38 cans so far.

Any kind of light that you like a lot that is still available to buy and still in production. I would prefer LED, but non LED can work too.

I'll be getting a DMX controller very soon.

If things work out the way I think they will, I'll be doing a bunch of events in 2009 so I'll be able to buy several lights spread out over the year.

A ADJ REVO III or CHauvet VUE III, I would go Revo about $239 on eBay, maybe cheaper from our local vendors.

Another great light but discontinued, but still come up on eBay Martin Acrobat usually <$200

For Slow songs an ADJ Starball II or a reall mirror ball and pin spots.

I would definitely recommend the Revo over the Vue. I also use a Starball II for slow songs and love it. I would try and find a couple of good scanners in that situation. Look for something that gives you good coverage.

contact Ben he has always hooked you up properly. Wiz/Rob/Delicious/Beautiful whatever you prefer to be called this week. You are doing this lighting thing for your singing endeavors correct? If so lights chosen would likely be somewhat different thn what a DJ might use. Ask Ben he works with singers bands djs and a whole lot more. But then you already knew this right?

Just found a pretty cool looking LED DMX light, American DJ X-Color LED. Kind of expensive for me right now, $299, but maybe by the time I'm ready to buy more lights who knows, maybe they'll come down some . . .

I checked on Youtube and the Vertigos have (2) 300w bulbs and a 10 minute duty cycle. That's just going to be too much heat here in Florida and too much current draw. I'm beginning to think that LED is the only way to go even though it's more money up front. I'll be able to run lots of lights off one circuit and my amp and my mixer etc. if I stay with all LED lights . . .

I'll add my name for the Revo3
don't have one yet, but my mouth has been watering since I first saw one.
well worth the extra few bucks (over your $200) to get one!

For years I used two Vertigos and one Lotus for my main lights. I would cycle between the Vertigos and the Lotus for duty cycles. I would use both for when I was playing high energy songs. I also used a Starball for slow songs.

Yes, absolutely. :)

We have the Vue III, got it from Ben last year. As mentioned, there are other, improved versions of this effect but it's a great effect for aiming at the ceiling no matter which one you decide on.

We also use an ADJ Sunray that we modded with a dimmer control. The Sunray 2 is the color version.

To be honest, these prices are not bad for LED effects. I'm sure that Ben can help you with your lighting needs. :)
