I appreciate all of your opinions.

Remember though; my arguments are moreso focused on middle school/elementary (9 - 13 year olds).

I'm somewhat surprised at some of the opinions put forth here...

Look at the sky high rate of teenage pregnancies, teen aged drug/alcohol use....just the general moral decline of society, where pornography is available to any one at the push of a button; nudity on public tv, video's etc.

Limits and boundaries are being pushed constantly. At some point shouldn't responsible, moral people push back?

Society is literally going down the toilet, yet it seems the consensus is " it's not my problem". As a member of society it is....the failure to be accountable has brought us to this point.

I'm not a prude in any sense of the word. When I was 13 the biggest thrill was to get your hands on a Playboy magazine that your friend had copped from his older brothers bedroom.

Ask a 13 year old today what he's seen......

Many say that it's the schools responsibility to police the music. As the professional, isn't it our responsibility to work with our clients to educate and lead. Don't you think the school would recognize your effort and look to bring you back because you do give a damn?

Totally agree....especially in the realm of pre-teens.

This is unrelated but somewhat fits in.....A year or so ago, when I switched cable companies...I got a years subscription to TMN (The Movie Network)...your HBO. I turned it on one Saturday nite at 1:30 a.m. and lo and behold, there's a porn movie on....not softcore......today's stars just a going at it. The only thing edited (I don't understand why)..was the money shot.

This isn't pay per view...this same movie channel, 6 hours later is playing "Happy Feet". Mind you, I didn't file a complaint (I should have)...making me guilty of not following my own advice.

My question is how have we gotten to this point? Where a TV channel playing Happy Feet at one moment is playing Big Boobed Mamas hours later?

The Movie channel will say it's up to parents to ensure they know what their kids are watching, but at that same token they are programming children fare.....

as a responsible parent with morals you should be creating a letter to your local cable company immediately and have the TMC removed immediately from your service. While doing this you should either lock away any known CD's or MP3 you own which might contain questionable lyrics or content along with your hunting weapons (along with the playboys you copped from Dad or your older brother).

Steve,

Sadly, we can't save the world from what it isn't threatened by.

Although there are a fair amount of blind eyes out there, utimately, it's money that perpetuates this trend. The music industry, artists, broadcasters, schools, clothing companies, movie industry, etc, etc, are all sacrificing morality for a dollar and it's not going to stop.

The best you can do is decide (as I did) not to contribute to the madness. If you feel the evangelistic need to turn people around or build awareness, you may want to consider Mr. Tuck's above advice.

Give me a break I had teachers in the gymnasuim while I was DJing with the kids and I even had teachers taking photos. Now all that stuff about teen pregnacy, drugs that all has to do on how you bring up your child in society music has nothing to do with it.I use to listen to N.W.A.,Tupac,Public Enemy,Eazy-e with cuss words and I turned out fine I have a family now and if they dont listen it with me they will eventually listen to it elsewhere you just need to train your kids the right way.You just need to crawl out of that rock because that is the type of music kids like and about 95 percent of the music nowadays has sometype of sexual innuendo in it and that is what they like and that is what they tell me to play and that is the bottom line.

Hey Jon, maybe we should lock our whole family in a closet until 2050 so they don't hear any music or see TV. What you think! LMAO

Excellent post! I also use to listen to it and I turned out ?????? well you know how I am Sazon! LOL

Kids will find a way to do what they want to do either at the house or at not. We teach them the right way the rest is up to the kid.

Don't forget DJ's as well

Dan . now you can close this....

Umm Steve you ask that Dan close the thread yet you continue trying to preach and save the lost souls? Talkin out both sides of your neck?

Yeah go ahead and close it would be a good idea because some people need to realize that music has nothing to with it nor do movies is how you train your kids on the dos and donts in the world.

My daughter doesnt like Rap music

Im ok with that and she also knows how dumb most of those songs are. They have no influence over her.
If I were targeting middle schools, I think this would work very well...

Jon - so I can appreciate your view. If you had a 11 year old daughter; would you be OK with the DJ playing Lollipop at her middle school dance?

Why do people always always blame the Teachers, music, movies, video games societyfor all the wrong doings? It is always everyone else's fault except them! We have a saying in the Latin community "Tronco Jorobado ningun palo lo enderesa" which means "Ä Bent tree trunk will never be straightened out"

I grew up around the worst people in my area and listened to just as bad music, but after all this down deep inside me I knew what was right and what was wrong. I never blamed it on anyone else for my wrong doing. Nowadays it is everyone else's fault except your own!

Im okay with that just had to point out the look of inconsistency. You always have to get in the last word.
