Okay, so Still working on the DMX stuff... I am using freestyler and Im looking for someones help with it... I have had to make my own file for the fixture as the one that comes with it is low res, and I need high res...
My problem is the whole motor speed... I don't see where in the file you are suspose to add it to the file... Or is it not necessary as the pan and tilt will take care of how fast the image moves?
Thanks again guys... Only wish Tyrone was still around....

Keep working on it JK, get it perfected, then teach me everything you know when I go to freestyler in a couple months :sqwink:

Yes, definitely more details! I may be able to help as well.

So tell me Kevin (and other freestyler users) now that you made your switch from a controller are you glad you did it? Once you know the software is it easier to program scenes than with your controller?

I program my scenes on the fly, just like my music.

Curious.... to those who know Freestyler and hardware, which is easier to use?
I have used both... Just starting with Freestyler... I was using light jockey but man talk expensive....
You have to play with a DMX controller regularly to be good at it... Its used for more live performances... because you can change things on the fly in a very short period of time....
As for software, I personally prefer because I can setup up a few quick seen on site in 15 - 20 min and Im ready to go... This stuff is used alot more in theater where seens are the same over and over (For each production) but I love it for the work I do...
The freestyle is actually for a club Im working on... It will be simple enough for any of the light guys to run, and if they get creative they can figure out how to play around with it... Plus the controller thats there is dieing anyway, why not set up something with flexibility...
So all in all... Im a software guy for this as well... but USE 2 LAPTOPS, not 1 for music and lights...

I have been messing a bit with Freestyler, but have never owned a dmx hardware controller. I have not mastered by any means yet, and need to spend a lot more time with it.

Like Kevin says, check out the freestyler forum, as there are many advanced users there. I am a noob, totally....but have run it on a separate laptop a few times. Like Kevin said, I dont want to compromise my music machine.....without tunes, lights dont mean jack.

Well Here is an update... We ordered the controller off ebay after the local guy said "I think its around 350", Got there and hes says "Sorry, had the wrong price, I was a bit off, its $650"... So I pretty much walked out of there and found it on ebay for 140ish...
Here is the link to it... http://cgi.ebay.ca/Enttec-PRO-DMX-U...ryZ29942QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
We are going in to do the install on Wednesday, the DMX to USB controller should be here Monday...
I will try to remember my camera, and take some pics....
Again, we are hooking up 12 High End Trackspots... I hope all goes well...
