    wedding prep time

Brian Redd knows his stuff. He's a huge advocate for the legitimization of the mobile DJ. He might take longer than you or I, but he might not either. I always do site inspections- especially if it's a venue I've never played. I like to envision what the client wants while walking through with...

Lighting - tree, truss or ??

I usually always put my lighting on the floor and table simply because I hate the way trees and trussing look. I like to be as inconspicuous as possible and "blend" with the reception as much as possible. I usually find creative ways to make it work and wash the floor/room. Check out about 5:45...

    LED bar-type fixtures

The ADJ Ultra bars are great and BRIGHT. I bought an Ultra Bar 12 and it will easily light and wash a very big space. It's great for uplighting and backlighting as well!

Weddings Wedding Photographer only hired till ...?

Rick, I love how you've got this down to a science. I follow a formula very similiar to this, without even knowing it but just on trusting my gut feeling and based on what I would want to hear/dance to.. Very cool.

Looking for a quality wirless handheld with a battery powered reciever

I recently got the Audio Technica System 10 battery powered mic system with the lav mic. It's worked awesome and I've done a few ceremonies with it, the iPad and Bose L1 compact running off of a Black & Decker power inverter to great success.

Weddings Wedding Dance Floor Lighting: What Do You Guys Use?

Really, lighting doesn't make or break the event but it will break your back and bank! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] You never hear brides ask or talk about lighting like they do music selection and reception flow. Add it tastefully here and there, especially dance floor wash- but don't stress...

    internet connection expectation

In my market, it's very common to not have any Wifi or cell service for that matter- so I view them both as a luxury when I have them. I pay for a Premium Spotify subscription and will download the requested song to a playlist which will playback at a high quality. This works most of the time...

    I really hate itunes!

This time a million... I used to swear by iTunes for media management and playlist creation and organization, but it's changed a lot since and I don't find it nearly as easy or intuitive as it used to be and far from as easy and intuitive as VDJ or other DJ specific software. I feel like using...

Weddings Wedding Dance Floor Lighting: What Do You Guys Use?

After some thought and fine tuning to my rig (since posting this) I recently picked up an ADJ Ultrabar 12 for dancefloor wash- For poorly lit dancefloors, I'll put it up on a tree but I try to avoid trees and trussing at all costs to remain as unintrusive as possible! If it's not on a tree, it's...

Is this maybe indicative of where you're advertising? That's bizarre!

Need ceremony systems...which option do you like and why?

All great info. I think one factor that's been hinted at, but not mentioned directly: design and set-up your system(s) for a quick, repeatable set-up and come up with a routine or a system to make it easy and fast. This is especially important when it comes to ceremony systems. Also, KNOW YOUR...

Weddings Websites & Pricing: To Post or Not To Post- That IS the question!

I know this isn't the norm, but there are still clients who aren't as concerned about price as they are about what you can do for their wedding or doing something similar for them as they saw/heard about at another wedding. Word of mouth is huge where I operate and I truly believe that...

Need ceremony systems...which option do you like and why?

I feel like a ceremony system is not a good place to go the cheap route- especially with anything wireless, IMHO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
