OK, let's see what you would buy if you were talking about events of 250 people or less. NO OVERKILL. Just match it to the 250 or less event size. And for God's sake, don't over analyze it. It's just a simple, and hopefully fun, question.

Keep it UNDER $12,000. Include lights in the amount and system if you think that would be part of your dream system.

I would have to go with the BOSE system - plain & simple!!!

I have the Bose too, but what about the other stuff? Mixers, CD players, controllers, possibly lights?

What I'm using.....

EV ZXA1s for the ceremony & cocktails
EV ZXA5s for the reception/dancing
Denon HD2500 & Pioneer DJM 5000 mixer in both systems
(so far I'm pleased with these....my lighting could be improved, but not that necessary for now)

Bill, I may have asked you this before. Did you ever use the Bose? In any case, if I was doing it all over again, I might have exactly what you have. But I would add the dual Denon CD player. Or I would get the Pioneer MEP 7000... though I do think that is way to expensive. I might also consider a Dynacord system.

Zinc, all that money and you would take Behringer products?

No flames here, but I do find that a curious choice.

I own those three pieces and they sound and work wonderfull together.

I pretty much already have it tho Im considering adding a ceiling effect along with the 4play to enhance the 4bar. I might be a bit over your max cost at this time but wouldnt trade it for the world.

My pick is the system I use every weekend:
Sound:
1 Custom Made Dell Studio 17 ($1000)
1 Pioneer DJM-5000 ($900)
1 Denon HC-4500 ($450)
1 Cortex HDC-3000 ($350)
2 KV2 EX2.2 ($4400)
2 KV2 EX12 ($3200)
2 KV2 Covers ($250)
1 Audio-Technica AEW-5244D R5200 System ($2000)
1 Fostex T50RP Headphones ($100)
All Planet Wave XLR Cables (7) ($200)
All Monster Cable RCA ($75)
My Magliner Hand Truck ($150)
Approx: $14500

Lighting:
Right now I have all Martin Lighting including:
1 Martin PR-1 Projector
2 Martin Raptors
2 Martin T-Rex's
10 Venue LED64 Par Cans
Bags, stands, Etc
Lighting: $3200

Total I will be using tomorrow $17,750

Yes I have. It was good, but I was more impressed with the EVs.
I have heard Dynacords, and seriously considered buying them.

Truthefully, I was more impressed with the Dynacords than the Bose.

So spending 10k on a system for under 250 people is not overkill? lol

Not at all if you want quality gear, and it includes lights.

EDIT... not to say anything less expensive wouldn't be good, but I certainly don't think it would be overkill for good gear. I know some folks who pay $1000 for a microphone.

In terms of sound, I'd keep my current Bose system and add the Pioneer MEP-7000 with the DJM-5000 (both actually on my wish list for next year).

If I DJ'd a lot more, I would be wanting those.

BTW, you just made my point. That setup is about $7500 before adding anything else.

Bose - full setup is almost $5000, and is even more when you figure in tax.

The Pioneer stuff is about $2400 before tax.

Then you need to add everything else in. You could EASILY spend another few grand. And this would be an awesome system without being overkill.

I would still use my current system. Enough bass to knock all two fiddy of them on there arses!!!

I must say, I have put together and own my dream system. I to have the Bose and the DJM 5000 mixer and love them. I learned after my first year buy what you want the first time around and it will end up saving you money and not buying it later. When I built my system the thought process of a wedding up to 300 people was my goal. After that I can add more sound if I need to. I'm bringing 3 systems to my wedding today.

Hopefully I will have photos tomorrow. The weddings is 350 people and outside at a very large outside venue. Hopefully after setup I can stop sweating my ass off lol. The fun part will be I will have 2 of our past couples at the wedding today. I look forward in seeing them as well. I know the dad of one of the clients will be there and loves Jonnie B Good sorry for the bad spelling. So I will have to hook him up tonight. )
