I was going by what the client told me and how do you know they won't dance to that kind of music? I could have done what you suggested but what if it's not what the client wanted? I turned the event down and here's the reasons why. I told him we don't have that style of music. He told me they would have it for us to use on a phone and all we had to do was play the music and be the host. Originally I was told they have a list for us to go by. Now I'm an Ebay fan. Now what if we went online and got Country Music and it's stuff not on their list? When a client gives you a list of songs they want and you agree to do the event, they are expecting you to have those songs. If you don't have them then you look bad and the client is upset. At first I was told his daughter was going to get the music. When I talked to him later his boss was going to see to it. I don't like having a client supply us the music for an event. I would rather we have it ourselves. No problem a client giving us a list and we get the music needed. I have never had a client had a client provide us with the music they wanted for their event other then a specific song for a specific thing during the event. The thing that had me say no to doing the event is when I asked how we were to get paid, I was told his boss would write us a check. I would never take a check the day of the event unless I knew the client personally and have done events for them in the past that I never had an issue with getting paid the full amount. I only talked to this person over the phone. I don't know who this person is and how do I know if that check wouldn't bounce from here to Florida?
The other big thing is even if we were given the music we wouldn't know what to play when. We don't know that music.
