What's the purpose of a facade?

To many ads? Support ODJT and see no ads!
When I had one I put all the shit behind there.

These day no facade just an x stand and a piano players seat.

Thanks to the big flexi tube that keeps all the shit cables in

No this gal managed to put my entire system on the floor! This was back before I went computer she pulled the player/mixer box and several books of CDs and about 20 loose CDs as well to the floor with her!

I was real interested in spanking her hard but not in a sexual way!:sqmad:
 
I use a home built facade. A white one for weddings and a black one for parties. It takes 30 seconds to set up or take down. I also use a piece of colored fabric that compliments the color theme (if applicable). It's only been knocked off the table once in over 3 years(and only partly)
 
I built my own facade, Takes about 30 seconds to unfold, hook the 2 sides together and be done. I like the fact it separates us from the party a bit and it also gives a cleaner and more presentable look to our area. The only thing I need to find is a way to cover the back of our rack while the back cover is off, cause you can still see in there if you are next to and looking over the facade.
 
I use it primarily for looks. I use a 4 foot table and use most of the available space, so I've never had a problem with drinks. And my gig box sits rather high so most people simply can't wave a drink over it. With the large gig box with the laptop and the B1s in front of the facade there is little room for anybody to approach from the front, and when they do I simply point to my ear and shake my head to imply I can't hear them and they walk around. Which naturally leads to the request with boob rub. Haha! :sqbiggrin:

(Before somebody takes that the wrong way, even though we had an entire thread about it once. Ever notice that when women, especially drunk women, make a request they always manage to get so close and actually press their chest to you...almost intentionally? Aw hell...we know it's intentional!)

It's one of the hazards of the job.:sqwink: They're weapons I tell 'ya - weapons!

I find myself concentrating real hard to look directly into the eyes and not at the cleavage of said requester.
 
I'm with Scott and Wade. Though I haven't used a facade yet, the reason for me would be for looks. Hiding components and cables. To-date, this hasn't been an issue for me as everything (except my wireless receiver) has been contained in a single 10/6 slant case, but now that I have recently added a laptop with stand and a midi controller, there are going to be some straggling cables and components that I will want to deal with.

Still trying to figure out how I am going to reconfigure my setup.

I do too. I used to use the topper from DJ skirts.

Now I use a very simple PVC table top home made one that cost about $10 in PVC piping and about $12 in fabric...black...and white.

about 60 set up and tear down.
 
I also use the table topper from DJ Skirts for the same reasons, barrier and asthetics. I got the two sided version, black on one side and white on the other to accommodate either table skirting.

Here's a pic from my wedding last Sat. Ignore the videographer who moved in in front of me and made my area look like shizzle.
