As far as number of Gigs I can say without a doubt it is Karaoke with weddings, Private Parties, Corporate events and Christmas parties coming in a distant second and they all average about the same numbers for the year.

School functions maybe 3 to 4 times a year.

Our bookings are mostly weddings and receptions. That's what we market to. That market can refer to private parties and dances. Since we're semi-retired, we tend to be careful about taking on shows. I'm getting too old for the backyard drunk parties. :D

Roughly 95% schools (we do a wedding every year or two for friends it seems). We don't market to weddings, Clubs / Bar, Karaoke [shudder], pool parties, birthdays, graduations, "retro" events, Bubble Parties [shudder again]

We do have a couple corporate clients, but again, few and far between. We're starting to do a little college marketing....not sure how much return we'll see on that in the next few years.

Val,

I am going to have to send you a recording of a typical Karaoke show and let you hear what you are missing!:sqwink:

Actually, I think you would honestly be suprised by what you hear at least from the people who attend my shows on a regular basis!

I don't think I could market to youth events. Not anymore. :D

We used to do karaoke when we worked for the multi op. Around here it is primarily drunk people who can't sing (but think they can). Like the worst of AI on Jack Daniels. I have been to great karaoke shows--where the lineup was largely good and the event flowed. That doesn't fit the typical karaoke show around here. Like the kids parties, just not my thing! Again....give me a room full of teenagers!

I have to say I have been blessed with the odd Karaoke gig and having done three nights per week at the pizza parlor. The talent is out there. Atleast in So Cal and Vegas and most recently here in BC. Sure we have had the really bad singers but its what Karaoke is about, I would safely say that 70% of my singers over the past 20 yrs have been very good. Bubble parties are within my radar currently. Also Seniors events and I am going to rekindle rec center gigs. Weddings and Corporates mostly fill my dates. I also an looking to get back into the car show ventures. I might setup sock hop central at a local A&W.

I chose basic parties, cause I do lots for family members (discount rate for them) but weddings / receptions are a close second place
