Was scheduled to do a wedding tomorrow and it was cancelled by the venue due to lack of payment. I feel awful for the Bride. This ever happen to anyone before? It's the first time an event has been cancelled for me
Is lying part of your business practice? If you know you won't do a make up Gig then why offer it. Your Contract should be very specific when it comes to Refunds or Credits, did your Lawyer explain that part of the Contract for you when he crafted it? Varying back and forth on the Contract policies can cause you lots of grief if you are ever sued for something like that.I've pretty much decided that from this point forward, whenever the do call back to reschedule "I'm already booked" on that future date.
IT"S ON! lol Before you two go at it I just want to let you both know I appreciate your posts here. You both offer a lot of great information and insight and I've found value in many of your posts
When did you find all this out? I have a problem with the bride waiting till the last minute to tell you this. If she knew that this was a problem much earlier she should have been let you know what's going on. Not wait till the last minute.
You could have had someone else book that date. You said the bride still owed you $1,100.00 the day before her wedding. When was she supposed to pay the remaining balance? The day of the wedding? If her wedding were to still go on how would you allow a bride to pay you the day before or the day of their wedding?
I get that it was likely he found out today. If it was 3 days ago that to me still is a mess. Now he did mention that they still owed $1,100 on a photo booth thing. The bride still owing that much the day before their wedding would have raised red flags for me. I would have wanted to know what was the hold up on getting us paid the full balance due at this point and how this issuer could be resolved if the wedding were to still take place. You don't read very well, do you?
Go back and READ the O.P.
Mix you would never have to worry about anyone having an $1100 balance with you, I have yet to see a gig where you made over $500 totalI get that it was likely he found out today. Did mom finally kick in.... Did the bride pay you?IT"S ON! lol Before you two go at it I just want to let you both know I appreciate your posts here. You both offer a lot of great information and insight and I've found value in many of your posts
That's where you're wrong. Now the issue is not just about how much money is owed but the fact that money is still owed to the DJ the day before the wedding.Mix you would never have to worry about anyone having an $1100 balance with you, I have yet to see a gig where you made over $500 total
Mike,
I would make sure you get something in writing from the bride and not just a phone call....make sure she emails you specifically saying she canceled.
