Thanks for setting me straight but Im using a 3 yr old laptop as my backup and it was previously running Vista and doing fine until the drive died so I decided to upgrade it. It will be out of rotation most likely before they release 8 and get it bug free and the rest of the world aligns with it. Thanks for your concern though.

Don't worry Jon, there's still a few nutcases running on XP or earlier -- at least yer somewhat close... :)

I have a 6 year old lappy, which I'm gonna update to Win 8, and test the new version of Rockit on. If it works on that, it'll be good to go -- if not, I'll make it work.

I'm gonna raise the price quite a bit -- raise my rates, in DJ speak :sqbiggrin:
 
whats wrong with winxp 64bit ?
 
Do you think if I upgraded to windows 7 on my laptop it would help with this situation?
 
I have used the VDJ Home version for a few years. Does more than I could with my CDs and Dennon players. Not sure why anyone would think I am giving my clients less?

I am also using a Dell with Windows 7. Never had any problems and used it for 8 hours straight.

While I don't go out of my way to help the competition, you do realize you can't use that version for commercial (getting paid) use, don't you...?
 
What I would do is, borrow a known good working laptop EG (dual core 2.33Ghz, 4gb of ram), make sure there is plenty of free space on the HDD (C:\) something like 100gb free space.
Load/install VDJ, and put some or a good bunch of music files on a memory stick EG 8gb, then once all boted and installed the vdj and your all set,, start playing around for 4 or 6 hours mixing tunes, and see what happens, also just to be on the safe side get one of them laptop coolers with the fan built in, I have 3 laptops here and all of them have the fan built in to them, 2 of them i made, i have never ran into any heat issues, about one a month pop the trap door off and blow out the dust.
anyhow,
there will only be two out comes to doing this:

1. the poptop will work fine with no issues what so ever.
2. you still will have issues.

try that, and let us know.
 
ok what is the one poptop you ARE having issues with ?

Additional requirements for Video mixing:

  • Video card must support dual-screen output
Supported Operating System:

Before wiping, swiping, flip flopping, upgrading, or going live...I suggest you cool the darn thing down.

Laptop fans are decent if they are clean and on a hard surface or a mesh surface.

Set it on a cookie rack and let it run all night....SERIOUSLY. Don't waste anymore time until you do that. Or at least clean the darn thing.
