I was wondering how everyone decides what videos they do and don't play for school events or events where they are younger people. Obviously the videos are edited, but do you decide if there is too much skin or bikinis not to show it?

Have schools ever approached you about a video being too revealing?

Thanks!

"Give me your ugly, give me your disease" doesn't belong in a middle school dance, but for high school... this is 2010... at minimum just chalk it up to "sex ed." LOL

Seriously, I openly discuss with the Admin that what Elvis and the Beatles did was "shocking and horrifying" 50 years ago, but we think NOTHING of it today. I also share my perspective that even IF the kids are making some sexually suggestive dance movements, at least they are doing it with their clothes on, in a controlled environment, where Chaperones are watching and CAN give a shoulder tap IF they feel somebody has gone "too far." Better to have them at a dance than skipping the dance and doing the "real thing." LOL Also, since I have live vid cam and the kids tend to get the freakiest right in front of me, I can broadcast anything innappropriateon teh screen to alert a Chaperone who can then tap a kid to get them to "cool it."

Thanks for the input! I want to get into doing video shows, but some of the videos of popular music seem a little more revealing than schools would like. For example, something like "Sexy Chick" or "Hotel Room Service". Some bikini videos seem ok and others don't, but I was wondering how you guys decide and what the schools think or what their input has been.

Well, IMHO, Promo Only is the best video service to subscrible to.

If you subscribe to the Hot Video (most popular) series, Promo Only gives you a "suggested" warning for ears (audio lyric warning) and eyes (visual innappropriatness). Then it's your job to view and listen and make a professional judgement. Sexy chick may be too much for the video, depending on your school and locale, so you can through up an ambient, a sound activated plugin, or go to live video and skip showing the "video" part of that one video...

PO is ok. I think they're comparable to RPM. While RPM does not have the dance mix sets or anything like that, I think it covers most needs.

I've thought of it too but the cost / investment is keeping me from doing it. Video projectors and screens to plasma and lcd screens and the equipment, staff and time needed to move, setup and use all this equipment.

Then trying to collect the appropriate fee's for said system to recoup the money spent.

Also, the amount of videos you could play without offending someone is another topic. IMO, school's would be a big no no for videos just because of all the possible issues. Been there, seen that. We have enough problems with audio in schools. Adding video compounds the problem.
