Ok, I am a licensed virtual DJ user, but I'm about to upgrade my laptops hard drive and change my OS from windows VIsta to XP. Will i be able to download virtual dj for xp from the VDJ website? I've never had to download it so I'm not sure. How that works.

What I would suggest is when you download the program and it's different version releases I burn them to a CD-R so if there's a problem with the new release I can always go back to the previous version that has worked properly.
Since you're doing the changes, you need to run the program for several hours to see if it's working properly before using it live. This will save you from a lot of problems.

I take it your a VDJ user. If so can you tell me what the little cpu icon means on the screen that keeps changing percentages. I'm trying to learn how to read this
It simply tells you how much cpu processing power is being used at any given time. it annoys me worse than anything. load a track and watch it hit red
Now that I know what it is, I wish I didn't. I can't help but keep loading tracks to watch it jump and CRINGE in fear. I want to look away but I cant
Steve is correct, if you have plenty of RAM the indicator won't hit red (I'm running 4GB) and the machines are VDJ dedicated machines, so no internet access, anti virus and most of the processes have been tweaked to get the max performance out of them.
I don't think I've ever seen those hit red either but then I'm running 4GB of ram on a 2.34Ghz Dual Core AMD processor to....

Nada, and I've removed all unnecessary programs installed, my laptops are exclusively used for music and that's it.
With the 4 GB of RAM the meter stays on the low side (50%) even when I'm loading a video.
I think my gig machine is 2gigs of RAM, and the video card has 512 of dedicated video RAM..
I don't have a 4GB monster system....YET. Now that i've thrown the video in the mix, I need to build a new gig machine, As my old one is still a single processor..I'll step up to a dual or quad core with much more muscle.
I'm just about done ripping all of the videos that i currently own, and will be doing some testing of my gig machine tonight for a few hours to see if it can do the job or not.

My machine id dedicated also, I have an antivirus but I shut it down when I gig not much redlining. You have to hook up your machine to the net at some time to do updates and such so an antivirus is still important, also if a client hands me a usb key of must play rare tracks it is good to have the antivirus scan the drive. I have keept every version of VDJ I have downloaded but I am goofy like that. Also cary a copy of VDJ or your DVS of choice on a usb drive along with yoour serial # just in case.
Ah see, Well right now I'm only running about 1 gig of ram on a duo core processor. I'm goin to upgrade the ram to probably 4 gigs.
unless you're running Vista 64 bit, don't waste the money.Put 3 gigs in, you'll be fine. My laptops have 2 gigs in them; no issues
