VDJ and it's (lack of) automixing

We all know the automix feature of VDJ plain sucks. I think they even acknowledge that. It's supposed to be much improved in the next update (Hooray)...For dinner music it's abysmal.....

To my surprise, a "free" solution exists: windows Media Player...it has cross fading built in that can be adjusted time wise...and it mixes very nicely...

Just drag and drop from explorer into the playlist section and away you go.....

For dinner it'll work great....

I use Numark "Cue". And the Auto mix sucks on there also.

I made up my mind to just learn to beat mix, then i won't have to be a wussy and rely on a program to do it for me.
 
Nahhh... I have OtsDJ, which has the best auto-segueing in the industry and the best beatmixing in the industry, meaning that it's perfect for dinner/background music as well as for dancing.

except for that really high cost - which I could live with - but really restrictive licensing issue - I would own OTSdj.


That license is is a deal killer.

Nah, I bet most clients are oblivious to what goes on behind the facade... as long as they don't see an iPod..

What I was meaning by that, is if you make it so easy a caveman can do it -- they will!

Every step we do on the development side to make life easy for a DJ, also brings it one step closer to not needing a DJ, or needing a less qualified, and lower paid DJ... :sqerr:

Is that really what you folks want, or do you want to retain a level of skill and experience, that separates you from the average caveman (requires work BTW)?

I've actually had a lot of people come up and check out my Total Control.
 
OTS's automixing is probably the best out there, however for what my use, I can't justify the cost...

Rick- I'm hearing you; I think the frustration is more with VDJ for failing to implement what shouldn't be a difficult thing.

Jay - how you likin' the total control.....

When I did the last version of Rockit, I specifically added the jukebox for just that purpose (as well as the AutoMix). It pre-buffers the songs one into another.

Having said that, I'm old school, and predo my mixes at home, in the comfort of my nice chair with Sound Forge. You end up with one big MP3 file, and all you do is hit the play button, as you did all the mixing work up front. Gives you time to schmooze.

Also, no real need to worry about the software making any "undocumented features" happen that way :sqbiggrin:
 
Even if monkeys can run the OTSDJ system they still need to read the crowd, which is something a lot of people can't do ;) .
