DAC 3 Mapper for VDJ v6

The mapper for the DAC-3 is already included in the release. Look under
...\My Documents\VirtualDJ\Mappers\PCDJ DAC3 mapping.xml

Lacking the DAC3 hardware, I can't test the functionality of the file but on quick inspection appears complete. If not, it provides a good basis for a custom mapper of your own making.

The file for the DAC2, has only a couple of lines and appears to be only a placeholder in the file directory.

a little off topic but when you are getting set for a gig do you turn down the main volume on VDJ to about half? It seems too harsh (at least the older versions did) when it's near full, so as a habit I've always turned down the main volume.

on netsearch, I typed in my brother's band(shurman)

Hey Scott, Is Keith a hired gun, or ??? I've been a Shurman fan for a long while since way back when Roger Clyne started dragging them around on tour. They used to be some Atlanta boys, but... well they're all L.A. now... lol

Anyhow, while I see he's playing Bass and Dobro for them, there's no mention of him in the Shurman Wiki, or band Bio.

What's up with that???

Anyhow, cool band!

I started with VDJ 5.2.1 and have never heard any harshness at full volume but then I trim it back anyway for the best gain setings into my mixer....

With VDJ 6.0 at least through my laptop speakers it sounds crisper and cleaner than 5.2.1

Since I haven't giged with it yet I can only imagine how it will sound live at this point, but all signs point to good so far.

One thing I've noticed is at least with the Total Control... unlike VDJ 5 once you activated a controller it always showed up when the program started.... with VDJ 6 that has not always been the case... more often than not durring my testing I've had to unplug my controller and plug it back in then use the Auto-detect feature or select it from the drop downs..... how do I get it to memorize that controller and automatically load it every time?

That's strange. No hired gun. I'll have to kid him about that. He's been the bassist for about 4-5 years now, maybe longer. He was there during the recording of "Jubilee" which came out in 2005. They moved from LA and are now in Austin TX doing some recording with John Popper from Blues Travler, playin out a lot, and just got a new record deal.
Roger Clyne is excellent. Still listen to the old Refreshments stuff alot. We got to hang out with them about a year ago when Shurman opened up for Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers here in Cleveland.

My brother Chris is a hired gun for Shurman. He's played keyboards on a few of their records.

Hot off the presses, 6.0.1

Atomix included a rudimentary DAC-2 Mapper and a number of small bug fixes in .0.1

Very rude..... Even so, not useful for me yet.

Would LOVE pern's DMA/DAC mapper as XML.

I worked both Friday and Saturday. V6 was rock solid. I am not sure I fully heard the sound quality improvement many our touting but I never thought VDJ sounded bad to begin with. Saturday was outside and I was surprised at how well the stock V6 widescreen skin worked. I typically use an inverse video skin (white background with black letters) when working outdoors.

Compatible Song [Filter]

I deleted my VDJ library due to importation errors and this filter poped up... I did not create it.... but it's pretty cool...

Compatible Song

bpmdiff<=4 and keydiff=0

What it does is this...

bpmdiff<=4 - this looks for songs that have a BPM with a difference of less than or equal to 4 of the current song playing

and keydiff=0 looks for in addition to the above songs with no key difference.

This yeilds a song list that could be used to assist in making good song choices or bad ones.... but alteast gives a list of music within a certain parameter that could lead to something good. YMMV

Either way I still don't know how this filter was created as I did not do it.... and also one other thing to note.... I deleted my DB 2 days ago and I am just now noticing this..... hmmmmm

In addition to this cool filter two other ones poped up as well.... Most Played and Recently Added... again I did not create these filters they just appeared.

Error in Video Driver

Can anyone help with this...I did go to the VDJ forum; nothing really there..

Installed 6.01 over 6.0

In starting VDJ, after the splash screen, I got the above error; no way that the program would open.

I went to the VDJ forum; there were mentions of Nvidia errors; however these error seemed to relate to the playing of video's...not issues with opening the program.

This was on my desktop; I do have an Nvidia card (8500gt or something like that). There was mention of a registry fix.

A reinstall of vdj seemed to fix it. I also unchecked the acceleration tab as well in Config...

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance....

I've been playing around with it, to see if they put anything new in (that they didn't rip off from me). It's ok, I'm flattered :)

Couple things I did notice:

The skin resizing sucks -- everything gets distorted.

I do get occasional audio blips more often (slight, but perceptible).

Other than that, I don't see much difference from the older versions.

Did you uninstall VDJ first?

If not you may want to try and uninstall VDJ all together then re-install it fresh.... your DB should remain intact especially if it's stored on an external drive vs the main drive.

I had problems with my initial install of 6.0 and that's what I had to do... I also have a NVidia card but have yet to see any error messages.

Stop pouring beer on your keyboard and it'll be alright..... :sqlaugh:

Steve,
Not sure if this will help, but have you tried making sure your directX is the latest? That fixed a karaoke bug problem for me. I am not sure how closely the karaoke and video are related with this program.

Steve:

If you're running ESET antivirus, you can have installation issues with some of the newer VDJ releases. Turn it off, install, and then turn it back on.

I would never recommend boosting the volume all the way up on the computer. This goes for the sound card volume as well as the volume on whatever DJ program you might be using. I remember the first time I ever applied this type of thinking back when CD players in cars weren't as common. I used the cassette adapter with a Discman and kept the volume on the discman around half. Boost it all the way up and it would sound like crud. The same applies for VDJ, keep it around half (the most I'll turn it up is 3/4).

While I never keep the volume turned all the way down on VDJ I have noticed that if you keep the volume too low it sounds like it starts to cut frequencies. Maybe it's just me, has anyone else noticed this?

I've been very happy with VDJ 6, no audio blips as someone mentioned (I doubt it is very typical, I've used VDJ6 on 4 computers now without any problems), no freezes, been working great.

This skin resizing isn't perfect, but for those who need it, it's wonderful. I think the skin options that exist are fine for most everyone that isn't using a netbook.
