Why are we talking about someone stealing these lights? Why would you do an event somewhere that you think something can or will get stolen? I don't go do events where I think something will get stolen. If you think the venue is a place that it might happen then why would you go there to work? To me it's common sense. Also I don't leave my gear unattended. Either I'm there or someone I trust is there to make sure that my gear will still be there and damage is done to my gear.

Why would you leave your gear unattended in the first place?

Funny man. You have 20 lights placed evenly around a reception hall, while you DJ the event. You're on-site the entire time. You can watch 20 lights while still directing your attention to the events and festivities of running the wedding reception dance floor. Riiiight.

And unattended doesn't take long. We did sound & lighting at a convention a few years ago. Big enough convention of Doctors & hospital administrators that they rented every available meeting space and hotel room in the facility. We had one of our laptops stolen while we walked from one room to the next between meetings...Now, I seriously doubt any of the doctors or hospital administrators stole our OLDEST and OBVIOUSLY archaic laptop. It was used for powerpoint slides for ambient images...and frankly wasn't capable of much else. Anyone who has picked up a laptop could have identified it as pretty outdated. It was amusing to think they would have to spend hundreds to buy a power supply for it (because it was so old...they weren't available...and the batter no longer held a charge for longer than 8 or 10 minutes). So...define unattended...do you set up and run to the restroom...get a drink of water....change clothes...run out to park the car? Stuff can get stolen while you're in the room without you seeing it!

Rick like I've said today I'm careful where I do events at. I just don't do gigs any where. Me personally I haven't done a gig somewhere and stuff was stolen. Like I said I wouldn't leave my gear unattended except to go to the bathroom and I'm right back. So since this subject has come up, how many of you have had something stloen while performing at a gig?

I thought you did parties? Since when do you do events? Which alter ego is posting today?

One pink teddy bear last week...actually I couldn't bear to take it from the little girl who fell in love with it.

That's why I bought a dozen of each a few years ago...down to 3 blue and 2 pink...

See that, if you had the paddles, could've avoided that one!

Not so sure .. you never can tell who's a closet S&M type. Maybe the girl's parents would have taken a set ... :)

You only do gigs at places that need SECURITY GUARDS....
but I guess having gear stolen is better than having a fight break out.
