I just drilled the hole and there was just enough room to get the wing nut between the roof support and the roof. The cool thing is that the span on the wing nuts are greater then the width of the roof support so you don't have to worry about the nut working loose while rolling down the road.
Safety note: use two or three drill sizes until you get the hole size you need. As the bit goes through it can grab the rail and pull the bit through the roof.

I hang mine about the same as Randy. Hold on, I'll go take some pictures.

Yes Mr. Smarty Pants I did look and even though it may be holding up now (The way you rigged it) be prepared for failure sometime down the road. Those Clamps are designed to hold one fixture at a time on a truss or pole. Even though you have several holding up the whole thing, the total weight plus the bouncing may make one of those clamps snap then the other one(s) will follow. If you want to hang the whole thing from the Ceiling braces, you will need "C Hooks" You get those at a Rigging Supply. But you don't have to take my word for it, you will see sooner or later.

You think I am talking about regular C Hooks huh! What you have holding up that whole thing is Plastic Clamps, each one is designed to hold ONE fixture. Not only do you have fixtures on there but the weight of the pole itself and other stuff. Every time you hit a bump in the road, increased downward pressure will add stress to that Plastic Clamp. Sooner or later one will snap and the other one will immediately follow. I was trying to find the link for you to show you what the Pros, who do large Productions, use to hang their Trusses and poles like yours, when transporting them. Here is an example except the one to which I am referring does not have teeth it is covered by friction rubber.Well, there you go again. C-hooks? Really? For the plastic, that is 75 lbs holding one fixture constant on a pole. You hit a bump in the road and that weight becomes much more than 75 lbs per clamp. It will eventually snap off.The metal ones are rated to 1100 pounds and I believe the plastic ones are rated to 75 pounds, which should be fine for most light bars other than those on tri or square truss.

No, I knew what you were talking about, I was a regular shopper at American Riggers Supply in Kansas City. Those clamps have been there for almost two years and many, many road trips. They have not failed and show no signs of failure.
The flat truss I use is a lot different then the ones used by a production company. The clamps I use are fine for the task at hand.
