The bubbles are so diluted when they hit the ground there shouldn't be any problem. Problems arise if a bucket of bubble juice is dumped on one spot on a lawn, but over the course of a gig...no problem.

ON another note, one of my machines stopped working today. The motors are fine but the wands won't spin, and they are not hung up on the front hood. :sqmad:

I'm actually thinking of doing Bubble Parties

almost exclusively. I already have 16 booked at $195 each plus a private party for more... so call it $3500 in bookings.

Many of you know that my work hours are not very conducive to doing many Saturday events, though if I book a party, I will be there unless I am dead. All along I only wanted to do about 10 - 15 parties (weddings and corporate ) a year anyway.... So if I do 12 a year at my current rate, that is $9000 gross.

I've always said that I am not in it this time for the cash, but to have a great time doing something for people, and make them happy at the same time.

In light of the way I am feeling right now, I think I will ONLY be taking on non Bubble Parties that I really feel will be a party I want to truly do.

LOL... make it 17 parties.. as I was typing I had a daycare call me to confirm that they sent a check this morning......

Did you make sure the switch in the back is not set to REMOTE OPERATION?

I know, common sense...

Try forcing the wands to spin... bubbles will clog a motor.

Yes, but thanks!

Those are pretty impressive numbers. Does that come from the same flyer and letter combo you were mailing , WOM, or a combination of sources.

I haven't gotten the mailer together, as I've been too busy with the regular DJ business, but I got zero response from e-mail and then tried a few phone calls followed by e-mail and again, no response, so I'm sure that mail is the way to go.

On the other hand, I did one daycare center and the party was very successful, almost picture perfect, and I've gotten one booking and a an inquiry (last second, for a birthday party "I didn't know what it would cost").

Two practice parties yielded a bunch of great pictures, thanks to a photographer friend and my wife.......gotta get that mailer together. It's fun trying to discover what will work in your area!

My website is ready. I ended up adapting a template that I found at Homestead.com because I got frustrated trying to find someone to help me with it. All may take a look, but don't be too hard on it, as it is the work of a total WEB DUMMY!:sqlaugh:

Bravo, Papa!

Rick, first off, I love your website! Great pictures for sure.

Mine have come equally, I guess, from the mailers, friends, and the fact that my kids daycare operator told her whole chain about me, and also gave out my cards to operators at other daycare centers. They have some big meeting between many daycares every 3 months, I think, to share ideas, and she shared my cards.

I also have business cards in my daughter's dentists office... he is a pediatric dentist. I know I booked one from there.

I also place them up in grocery stores on the free bulletin boards - nothing yet, though the cards always disappear.

I would say that I am VERY impressed with the performance of the mailer, even more so than my website.

One area that has come up TOTALLY SHORT is that kids party planner I mentioned before. Nothing, Nada, Zilch. Guess I was fooled.... but I will be running into her at the YMCA tomorrow, I think, and will follow up with her.

Rick ya done good.
The website is great and the pics are phenomenal.
I'm actually just about to send my mailer to the printer. Hopefully they are back by the end of next week and then in the mail by Friday/Saturday.

As a way of keeping this bumped, I just wanted to say that I have 3 bubble parties booked between July 21 and July 31.....

If you guys have the time and the inclination.........................

You should get this thread made a sticky Papa it's interesting reading for those of us still thinking on the subject

If the mods so choose... Tyrone wanted to do it before..... I'm sure he would do it now.

Thanks for bumping the thread, Papa.

I did Bubble Party number 4 Saturday. It was for a Vacation Bible School Kickoff. Went very well. Many younger kids around 3 and I'm finding it necessary to shorten a few things with kids that age to keep them interested as they also had a Moonwalk in the area that I was performing in. That's the second time that's been the case. Of course, some kids just wander off into the Moonwalk.

The one daycare I did was for all the pre-K and it was perfect, just like in John's plan, all the kids were around 5 ,so their attention level was there and the teachers joined in and led the way.

The other thing that happened Saturday is that McGruff the Crime Dog walked right up into the party as I was getting ready to do one of the non-bubble bits (hey... buy the plan to get details!). The appearance of a 6 foot walking dog in a trench coat tends to overtake anything else that's on the minds of a 3 year old. I just stopped for a minute and let it happen, then proceeded, skipping a couple of bits, to a nice grand finale.

The party contact lady got in a little "huff with McGruff" for messing up her bubble party, but a I said no worry, gave McGruff a high five and a butt bump, creating a few nice photos of the Bubble Man and McGruff together.

I have to say I truly love the character. The name Bubble Man seems to have evolved, mostly from the parents. I give away lots of cards and always get a few calls from them.

As for other promotions, I have lots of ideas, but have been a little short on time.

Now I have to work on the mailer. Mail promotions have always been a particular weakness of mine, even in a previous career in newspapers, so I'm fighting a little personal demon there as well. I know, however, that the mailer will do quickly what it will take me a year to do, so I'll get it done.

Wayde, I know you did postcards. Papa, just curious as to whether you stayed with the flyer-letter combo in the envelope or went to the brochure.

As a side note, I'm getting the cleanup of the Bubble Kings down, but it sure is a pain to clean up the guns and wands. My cleanup process takes about an hour or more, along with a little drying time. How's this working out for everyone else?

Side note number 2, how many bubble people are going to Mobile Beat next week? I was thinking that since Wednesday is basically a vendor day, perhaps we could get together briefly for an idea sharing session, kind of a Bubble Summit.

I'll start by saying that I'll be there and my mobile number is 434-960-2705.

Next!
