If I hire someone to do this for me, will my regular DJ insurance cover it?
Good question. We'll have to ask the insurance guys on that one. Are you saying "in place of you with your equipment".

On a happy note, I just booked my first Big Bubble Dance Jam today. I sent out over 30 cards last week and my first one came in today.

I am sending mine out as soon as they get here from ovenightprints.com... I ordered them last Thursday.... Hopefully by tomorrow. Last year, I think I sent out 12 letters and business cards at first. I was super lucky and booked 5 of them, I think.

Since I own Sendoutcards.com I figure I'd go this route this time. I know some people have had trouble with post cards being returned so it should be interesting to see if I get any.

Aloha all. Keeping in my recent tradition of buying something new every week, i went nuts this weekend and bought an entire bubble system for use at school shows, weddings and my new venture into bubble parties. I also picked up a 2nd truss last week and finally put it up and checked it out! \

Heres whats in the bubble system:

4- American DJ Bubble Machines
4- ADAM Utility Stands
4- Generic Clip On Fans (used outdoors to move the bubbles into the crowd)
Wireless Control Unit
Bunch of Cables to connect them all
HardCase for all the gear
Extra Set of Wands for each machine
3 bottles of UV bubble juice

If anyone needs an invoice template in word let me know. I have one I'd be happy to share.

I have change my mind. If I can't do it myself, I'm not doing it. Thanks anyway.
Sarge, do I have to post the Banana Hammock?:spshocked:

I just booked two more Bubble Jams, a Luau, and a game show for my local summer camp. Thank you very much!

See, it can be done. No if I can just get over the fact that I hate kids!:spundecided:

lol Ron. BTW, my wife wanted to know who that guy was and if he could wear a mask of my face all the time?

Since I'm a dreaded low balling, unprofessional part timer, I can't really put the time and effort into this as I would need and I don't want to have to depend on someone else to do it as an employee either.

Sarge,
That picture was of Borat.

Part time has nothing to do with it.:spwink: Besides that's Tom's territory. It's all good.

Well, I sent 39 mailers out to daycares that did not book me last year.... some of them were new mailings, meaning that I didn't mail them one last year. What a difference a year makes. Last year I was got an incredibly high return rate on my mailings. This year, none so far.

Now, last year was a 2 page "ad" of my business, kind of low budget. This year I had some PROFESSIONALLY made postcards made. Much nicer than last year, but less info.

We'll see what happens.

I just signed another party for July. That makes 4 booked and 2 I'm waiting on. But they will book. I had a meeting this am with a marketing coach. He said corporate looks for a 5% return on their mailers. I sent out 30, got 4 back with nsa, booked 4 with 2 more coming. That's about 15% return. He thought that was a good move.

I plan on sending another round in late April to those who I haven't heard from.

So my mailing went out late last week, so that most daycares would have the postcards waiting for them on Monday. I ended up using the rest of the cards I used last year and have postponed updating my website until I see how this marketing round goes. Generally speaking my website works…I just have a great idea for a redesign. Anyway…277 cards sent out and I’ve gotten 2 or 3 calls each day this week so far. Interestingly, most are looking to book for big events rather then normal class days, like school picnics or parent days. Most of this week’s calls are going to get back to me after getting some additional information from me. One booked 6 parties over the course of one week, another booked 3 parties back to back on the same day. Much better response then last year’s mailing after one week, however last year I mailed very late. My season officially starts this weekend with a birthday bubble party on Sunday.

I'm amazed. Simply Put! Ive had and been marketing the bubble shows for under two weeks and i just signed a contract with a local resort- www.wilddunes.com to perform bubble parties every tuesday from 2:30-5pm at a rate of $300 each. Multiply that by 12 and add on an additional 6 dates (sundays and wednesdays) periodically throughout the summer. Guaranteed 18 gigs and simple gigs at that! I'm looking forward to a VERY productive summer!

Nothing revolutionary here, but I have a local party store giving out my postcards and discount coupons. The coupons have a code for the store. The store gets $10 per party for each one I book. We will also be giving links to each other's site as soon as theirs is up and running.

I'm going to try to do more of this.

And, just tonight, I had an email request from an upscale daycare chain... hopefully that works out as they actually have the $$$ to pay.

SANTA ANA, Calif. — A science center in Santa Ana has canceled a planned stunt to surround an elephant in a soap bubble because of intense public opposition.

Artist Fan Yang planned to set a world record on Tuesday by creating a bubble large enough to enclose a 7-foot-6 Asian elephant named Tai at the Discovery Science Center as part of the center's "Bubblefest" exhibit.

A spokeswoman says the center received more than 2,000 e-mails and 75 phone calls in opposition to the event. The animal rights group In Defense of Animals and former "Price is Right" host Bob Barker reportedly were among those who objected.

The Orange County Register says "Bubblefest" will still go on and Yang will appear, giving bubble demonstrations that don't involve large animals.

Carolina excellent find

Now if you use some of the fine folks suggestions here you likely will find a great avenue in a bubble venture. The gear definitely wont hurt the chances.
