The Emergency DVD Tour

With our demo DVDs in hand, I've set up appointments and popped in on other venues.

A little bit of a sales pitch about our services followed by mentioning the availability checker on the website. Then the deal closer.....

I mentioned getting on their referral list but that the reason for the visit was to provide a solution.

I've asked to take care of their emergencies. There's a couple of scenerios that I mention; the ipod bride that suddenly realizes that she's over her head and the case of the disappearing DJ. He's booked but with only a few weeks left, nobody can get ahold of him.

The venues can see what we do (for the most part) and that we are legit.

The response has been astounding! One location is looking at booking us direct for their in-house functions on top of referrals and about 5 others will refer the brides.

Several locations are hotels on the outskirts of the nearby city that aren't that busy with wedding and we're probably going to be the only entertainers that will get their recommendations.

Jon, I was at the high end of my primary and secondary markets @ $975. Right now, things have changed and I'm sitting at $650 to $750. That's average or a little above average.

Ruben, I've got 3 chapters on it.

The 1st chapter is a montage of weddings and receptions with piano (chapel and keyboard outside), beach sound system and dj the reception. Used royalty free music from Digital Juice. A little long at 17 minutes.

The second has Sheila actually playing the piano, some with vocal. Seven songs, many were cut down to a reasonable amount. About 10 minutes.

The third is Sheila and our flutist Jenna playing at a bridal show. About 7 minutes.

I'm re-shooting footage and will be doing a more well-rounded production later this year or next.

I've purchased a 12-foot jib with a LANC and 7-inch remote monitor. Will be getting a tripod dolly and harness. Will be making a track and dolly system. Lighting, backdrops, lense filters are part of the plan too.

I didn't mention the teleprompter, did I? I already had half of it and didn't know it! Great investment, especially if you've tried to video any kind of information without one!
