I have yet to program MIDI for anything, so I have a total noob question...

Let's say I want to assign a fader in my software to a knob on the controller.. this can be done easily.

BUT, let's further say I want to be able to assign the complete throw of the fader to (let's say) HALF of the sweep of the knob.

Can this be done? I think in going through misc documentation, I've seen where you can select upper and lower ranges, but I don't know if those are for setting the boundaries of the throw of the fader in the software, or if you can use them to specify the "hi-lo" limits on the control knob.

Thanks in advance.

What Controller, other software and soundcard are you using?

God you love being smart-alecky dontcha! Just a simple yes or no question on the MIDI protocol easily answerable by anyone who has ever successfully programmed a midi device.

Would that, or would that not be you? LOL

I'm not asking how to do it, only if it's possible. If the answer is yes, then of course I will go do my homework and figure out how to do it with my software & controller of choice.

Geez.

Eh? Thats a famous word in Canada! Ask Le Blanc! yorofl:

I stand duly b---- slapped. :triconfused:

Hypothetically then, would the above scenario/function mapping be possible in Rockit?

See! if yer did what I told yer to do, ole Rick won't have to slap yer. His hand is rough with callouses and that can hurt. Remember he is celibate yer know. His live in Girlfriend's name is PALMela.:yoBiggrin::yoBiggrin:

If I wrote it in... ;)

MIDI controls have 128 discreet positions (sliders, knobs). That means the value can be between 0-127 that it sends to Windows. Yer basic program query's what Windows gets.

What you are proposing is a gain control for a slider or knob.

That has to be implemented in the software, so it can multiply/divide to increase/decrease the range that the slider or knob actually has.

In answer to your question, I have no idea -- perhaps if you asked yer question in French, they might answer...

I think I understand, and based on that it seems that VDJ supports this functionality based on info in SVO's links.

Seems odd though that their fader sweeps only utilize 32 out of an available 128 positions... but what do I know. Maybe I'm not reading it right.

Merci beaucoup monsieur aimable! :tritongue::tribiggrin:
