Still love Rockit! But I am buying OTSAV today, I think.

Right, but why does it have to be lame? I use media monkey. I was busy yesterday, so I haven't checked, but I think I now have 1770 ots files. I have to find out if that is correct.

Lame is the encoder -- the program sends PCM (wav type samples) to the encoder, the encoder compresses it into an MP3.

If a program asks for Lame, it is because it uses Lame's API, which is the answer to your question, I think.

Lame is a freebie (and rogue), and the reason why software developers specify it, is because if they put in their own encoder/decoder, they would have to pay major royalties to them Kraut folks that have the patent on MP3... :sqwink:

Papa you do know you can combine multiple MP3 files into a single OTS file... I would import them in groups... say by artist this will greatly reduce the number of files...

remember the ots file format is not an audio format it is a container that holds information about the audio file(s) contained within it.

make sense?

No. But I'll figure it all out before I spend the money.

You guys ought to know that I am an absolute computer idiot by now. But I do know how to convert to mp3. I would probably be far better served using a media controller and not worry so much about the OTS ability to beatmatch.

For the most part, I have one Ots album per CD. I use Studio to rip the CDs directly to Ots files.

Look, Chuck. Let's have that phone call.

OK, Bryan, but it will have to wait til I have OTSAV in front of me... I am at work right now, with nothing to do....

No way Chuck once you learn about OTS its great as far as fades and beat matching bro I don't even try. OTS fades are so smooth your gonna love it live.

How long should it take for me to transfer 10,000 songs to my new Otsav laptop?? I started yesterday afternoon and it's still transferring. It's been doing it overnight too.

1. Forever

2. You should have imported your individual MP3s into logical Albums instead of individual files... takes even longer that above.... but well worth it.

LOL it will take some time but. I would suggest you not worry about the time. After you have all the ots files I suggest scanning them and have all of there BPM's incorporated into the files and that takes even longer. But it will be worth it as has been said. You will them be able to check a BPM on a song and play a similar one if you choose. Don't worry about time though this will take a while to do it right but again it will all be worth it.

Great! :sqmad:

On #2 - You're talking a foreign language to me bratha..:sqmad:

Don't be mad brother if you like you can DJ with MP3 no problem. You don't have to even make these files. It's just something that is good. And on my end I never made my stuff into albums. What your doing right now is planting corn that will make a huge crop. It's work right now but you will be glad you did it.

Will the phone call apply to me as well?? I have questions too..Just got it yesterday. IBM Laptop thinkpad, with OTS DJ, Video and Karaoke.
I will help you or anyone who needs it. My phone number is 770-682-8780.
