ODJT has:

Threads: 18,153, Posts: 230,399, Members: 1,410, Active Members: 432.... 163 posts per active member

Then there is another DJ forum that has:

Threads: 101,637, Posts: 1,023,266, Members: 58,408 .... 17,58 post per total member. ... they don't list "active".

Is it decided by the admins?

Of course this isn't a perfect eqauation.... but you get the idea.

Thanks, Papa. :)

Dan can tell you more... he is familiar with the vB stats and how they work. It's not set by admin, though. It may be an algorothim that measures the number of members who post within a given time frame.

It's an admin set statistic. Ours is set to I believe the default which is 90 days. From the admin CP help link:

If you would like to distinguish between those members who visit regularly and those who registered and then disappeared, this setting is for you.

By specifying a number of days for this setting, the system will treat members who have not visited the board within that time as 'inactive'.

This option is used as the cut-off mechanism for the 'Active Members Options' settings.

We do everything we can here to keep the member count true and accurate from regularly pruning unactivated zero poster accounts to not counting banned members in the member count. We probably have the most accurate count out there amongst DJ boards. :)

Damn... I thought this was about sex :D:D:D:D:D:D

I was just viewing the memberlist yesterday................and thinking there are several hundred members who never have posted anything.
Yeah... we get a lot of those. I guess every forum site does.

Some are simply login bots. We have had a few instances where several new members came from a foreign ISP, like in Africa for example. Others are from poor people who are paid pennies to log in. Sometimes they post spam, sometimes they never post at all.

We had a truckload run on 'em at the old USODJA site. Every day, I was getting 7 or 8 new member logins, all of which were bogus. :D

Fred its only because they are the fly by night Dj services that come in one day thinking they can learn everythinmg from here and then we never see them again

LOL... I have a little game I play when I see certain first posts... I try to decide if we will EVER see a 2nd post. Usually when I don't think we will, we don't.

I found that too when someone realizes DJing requires more effort than downloading a few songs of Limewire they find something else to do real quick.

lol Dan - so you looking to buy that massage palor yet ???

Yeah, that's true. I think a lot of 'em get sticker shock or ethics shock when they hear from people who have been in the biz for some time. :)
