Weddings Sometimes Requests Do Work!

What was funny about this one was it was supposed to be the bride and her dad; however, the groom and his teenage daughter joined them on the floor and then other father/daughter pairs came out. The bride and groom were an older couple this time around, but regardless, it was a pretty close family all around so like Ducky said, we got some good pictures of it. Actually I think one of the best pictures we got was of a grandmother in a wheelchair who wanted to join the other girls in the dance circle. This grandma got someone to wheel her into the middle of the circle and she started groovin.

Buttercup is a must play in my neighborhood
so is Love Shack
I love songs that cross generations and never offend!

If I have a full dance floor all night
and I get a request for something completely out of left field
I will usually avoid it...
unless I get a "HELL YEAH" from the b/g or get several requests for it
If the dance floor is kinda slow and I have nothing to lose
I usually go for it.
This past Saturday
the FOG requested Black Sabbath
since the bride already had Ozzy's Crazy Train on her request list
and the dancing was sparce at the time
I went for it
and truly made the FOG's day!
Although I did preceed playing it by announcing it as Dad's request...
and after the song, announced that in 20-some years
that was the FIRST time I had played that song at a wedding
 
I had a ying-yang weekend song selection wise...my Friday wedding had a very hip fun playlist requested and 5 kegs on reserve - full floor all night right! Not exactly. It was a fun night but difficult to keep them happy.

My Saturday wedding was a swank event, big (300 ish) lots of money and lots of older folks (cash bar) - slow floor right??? I was playing some "hip dinner music" at about 8:45 (still had cake, dances, garter, bouquet) to do when 6 ladies hit the floor saying "let's get things started"...I tell them soon, we still have some formalities...then 6 more come out, then 10 more....I stick in some 70's funk...and by 9:00 the lights are down and the floor is packed. They stayed out there till 12:30 and "could have farted on the microphone and they would have loved it"...:sqbiggrin:
