Well if its just house parties and your just starting out, use your home audio system... When you get pro, then get a mixer and some good speaker... like FBT, Yorkville, Mackie, etc ... As for software, I highly recommend Traktor, although it will cost you...

I dont know that I would be connecting my cell and laptop. First, your phone must be like a black berry or something similar and you better have one good plan. I know my buddy has internet on his phone... but unlimited is only like 25MB/month... thats like 5 to 10 songs... plus they charge you time for being connected. Some venues have wireless, others wont... You may get a new request for songs you don't have, and if wireless is there, you can easlily jump on itunes and grab it... But otherwise its not worth it...

I'd stay away from "outlet strips" they have thier own fuses and can trip pretty easily. What you need is a good 12 guage extension cord (I'd get a 15,25 and 50 footer for starters) and a couple of these:

I have about 8 of these, use them in my trussing for big stuff (I spray paint them black) and under my table for all my gear. No chance of tripping a fuse just 5 clean plug ins.....love em
