A question: what is the most popular/stable software? I have been using Club DJ Pro and it's pretty buggy.... How about PCDJ? I do music, videos, and Karaoke!

Virtual DJ is the developer for PCDJVJ as well you might try the demos..

VJ is always slightly ahead in releases as you may expect than PCCDJ..

They are both stable programs....

Virtual DJ is what I have been using for over 4 years.

OtsAV and VDJ are my top choices for video and music....

For Karaoke however.... Winamp plus AutOKdj.....

While OtsAV and VDJ will both play karaoke neither has any rotation control capabilities....

For music either OtsAV or VDJ would be fine...

For Video you'd have to ask the video DJ's which they prefer.

best advice is your own

try a few and see what YOUare comfortable with

then buy the software....

Is there even a forum or Support other than mail?
I looked at it but it's using the Video engine of another product by http://www.deejaysystem.com/ that has had
some issues up to recently.

Seems a tad weird one does music, karaoke, and video and is asking about what software. What are you using now? How's it working for you? What equipment/hardware do you have? Did you luck out in obtaining a hard drive pre-loaded with media?

No, not cynical. A question was asked that anyone with any knowledge about what basic hardware requirements certain software need to function properly would realize that to make a quality recommendation without further details is simply filling dead air.

Having to defend my question to you further proves my point. (now that's cynical!)

I believe his inital post answers that question...At least the way I took it was he is using Club DJ Pro and is not happy and was looking for your professional opinion on what you use...

Emarcum I use Karaoke Go-Round for karaoke and karaoke/dj mix parties.. Just for DJ I use PCDJ Red (a older version)

I do like their DJPro Basic though a nice implementation with some features I wish RICO would add.

Have a look Rick http://www.clubdjpro.com/clubdjbasic.php

A nice implementation now if I could get Rick type support on this type product it would be cool. :sqwink:

I'm familiar with Greg (that's his company and product). Never met him, but we've both been developing DJ software for eons, and frequent the same developer sites.

I think he's pretty much outsourced most of his stuff now, sorta like PCDJ...

That's probably why you'll find I'm one of the few (or only), that gives direct support -- as I do everything in-house.

BTW Allen, me and George (tcgeorge), were having a conversation similar to this yesterday on the phone (we have many deep conversations over a couple beers -- that usually degenerate) :D

He asked a question similar to yours, in that how come I don't take all the cool features of all the programs out there, and roll them into one.

Well, the answer is simple, yet complicated:

1) Rockit has a niche -- it is simple, yet effective.

2) It is as stable as you can find in the industry.

3) It's inexpensive.

If I tried to make it the jack of all trades, master of none -- I would end up with VDJ II. It would grow out of proportion to its intent, you would lose the personal service and support, and I would make more money than I could spend.

So, I sort of look at it like this -- I have both an iPod, and a Zune. They each serve their purpose, and have their own pros and cons -- and they each suck at certain things.

I use the tool that fits the particular job at the time -- Rockit is a tool -- do you have just one tool in yer toolbox...? :sqwink:

My Credo: It should always be difficult for you and easy for your customers.

Never standstill and be satisfied with the status quo!

Always listen to your clients..

If you can say that every day it equals success for you and your customers IMO :sqwink:

What you been smokin' Allen? :sqerr:

Can I have some? :)

I believe life should be easy and laid back on both sides

I do. BTW, you left out a period in yer ellipsis... ;)

If I have to work hard, so do they... :sqwink:

As I have ALREADY STATED

best advice is your own

try a few and see what YOU are comfortable with

then buy the software....

if you get some software that will just do this and just do that then your stuck with it

TRY a few out and see what will work for you
I always try many out and what ever I like I use....

dont like this suggestion then its your worry when it comes down to the crunch!

Rick in your new package you claim four decks my question is why do you this? If you go this far for some why then not a Karaoke option? Seems like overkill in one area and nothing in the other.
