I agree with teddy that there is a big difference between an A/C problem the last time you were there and a/c problems for 20 years.
When I get requests for information about venues from clients, I will certainly tell them. But, I am not going to call a client 3 weeks before the wedding and let them know something that happened at their venue when they are powerless to correct it. What is the venue going to say.....yes we had a problem, but it's being fixed. What else would they say? You could certainly ask the bride not to mention you, but I wouldn't count on it.
How are we helping the client by letting them know about possible problem this late in the game? What could they possibly do? The most likely result is the bride and groom getting all worried and then getting ticked at you when they show up and the air conditioning is fixed.
If I knew of a history of a venue, I would have considered telling the bride when I booked, but even then, she already signed the contract. If I really felt the venue had no chance of having a successful event, I wouldn't take the show.
There is a place in our area....it's basically a church pavillion with sides that close up. Cool looking place...but they have NO air conditioning. The first wedding I did there, the bride told me that they told her they didn't need it because they could open all the sides and get great breezes. WRONG. It was soooooooo hot in August. Everyone was dripping with sweat. Bride was very upset. The next time i got a request to do a show there in late July, I told the couple that it was so hot there the last time, no one had a good time. I reccomended they ask for their deposit back and find a place with air conditioning.
