Second time I've gotten an email from them. The first time they were looking to contract DJs and KJs for last NYE paying $300 for one 3 hour house party and $300 for another DJ/KJ set up. Nothing near me I would even consider doing for $300. If they were just down the road, maybe.
Here's an email I got from them last night.
Hello Everyone:
I hope that your year is off to a great start! If you are already a member of the Scorpio Entertainment list and have worked with me in the past, please skim through the information below. If you are receiving this information for the first time, please read thoroughly and be in touch if you have further questions. Those of you whom I met at my DJ networking event at the end of the year, thank you for attending and I look forward to working with each of you!
I'd like to welcome you ALL to the Scorpio Entertainment Independent Contractors DJ List. I will use this list to send out all DJ gigs that are booked through Scorpio Entertainment and are in need of staffing. This message is going out to DJs whom I have met, seen their work, plan to see their work, and otherwise care to work with, in order to provide the Washington, DC metro region with some of the area's top mobile DJ talent.
Our company details may be found at
www.ScorpioDJs.com. We market heavily to various groups and sectors of the region, which includes VA, MD, DC, PA, WV, and DE. I am looking to TRIPLE business this year in order to allow myself and each of the mobile DJs working with me, the freedom to choose and create their own event schedule throughout the year, while making a solid income along the way.
The Scorpio Entertainment list works as follows...
-From each mobile DJ I need personal contact info (name, address, phone, email).
-All of your info is kept confidential.
-As events are booked through our main office, those event details will be sent out to this mass list.
-Complete EVENT DETAILS will be offered if the event is being booked by Scorpio Entertainment INCLUDING the PAY RATE.
If I am outsourcing an event from another company, complete details may not be available,
but, at minimum, the event's location, hours, and type of event will be available.
-EVENT NOTICES. Events are available on a first come, first served basis. I will send out notices and offer them to the first person who responds as being available to cover the gig. Though first come, first served is how I operate, I will also consider more highly those of you who have worked with my company previously or specific DJs that are being requested or are better suited for a specific type of event. I will need to see any DJ on my list perform before sending them out on any event assignment for my company. If you have a current regular gig, I will gladly stop in to check out your work.
-CLAIMING YOUR EVENT. If you claim an event from us, you're on our calendar and I expect that you will follow through in performing the event. Again, I will try to include enough information on the gig (location, hours, pay) such that you can clearly say YES or NO. You do not have to email me back if you cannot cover an event. Please respond via email, unless otherwise stated in the gig notice.
-My cell phone is (703) 853-9228. Please use this number for highly important correspondence only. Otherwise, my office line is (202) 536-4495. Again, please use my cellular for highly important correspondence only. Email is best.
-GIGS AVAILABLE: When a gig is available, the email subject will be titled as such: "DJ Needed, X-Date, X-Time, X-Location". As soon as the gig is filled, a subsequent email will be sent to notify the rest of the group: "DJ Found, X-Date, X-Time, X-Location"
-PAY. One of the most important parts of the job. I will always have pay available to my DJs within one week of the event date. I will work as hard as possible to have a check in your hand on the night of the event, but will ensure that it will be on its way to you within one week at the latest, unless otherwise stated. The pay stated with a gig announcement is NON-NEGOTIABLE. If you are interested in the gig at the rate stated, simply reply. If not, no reply is necessary.
-W9. I will be sending out W9s to each of you as Scorpio Entertainment does not withhold federal or state income taxes from payments.
-REPRESENTATION. When working events booked by Scorpio Entertainment, you are representing Scorpio Entertainment. Each DJ will receive SE business cards to have on hand. Feel free to place your sticker or write your name on the card. Please do NOT offer a client any of your personal contact information. If they'd like to book you again, be certain that they will call and we will send them your way! We have a strict one-strike policy regarding undercutting the bookings of our company.
Should you have any questions or wish to be removed from this list at any time, please contact me at 202-536-4495 or shoot me back an email. Welcome to the listserve.
