Well it seems that a lead that I had given up on ruffly a month ago has suddenly found new life.

Out of the blue I get an email reply to an email I had sent with a quote. After a bit of research it seems that this lead came originally from Wedding Wire and is slated for a Chicago venue. I also noted that before she emailed me that she in fact logged into the client area of my site.

Based on the email I'd say she's very interested the only part that might be a hinderance is Travel Expense from Elkhart to Chicago but I couldn't quote that until I know where the venue is.

If the distance is with in reason I might waive the travel charge.

We'll see.... I'm just waiting on a reply with the venue information to make that determination.
 
you in fact might consider adding more of a mileage fee after all you will be carrying two of those gigantic Sticks of thunder. LOL. You might want to contact some of the Chicago DJs from the boards to find out the load ins for determined venue before selling the farm. I have read some horror story nightmare load ins in the Windy city.

Damn good point.... most of the Venues I've been in here in Podunk Elkhart have been a breeze..... who knows what lays in store in the Windy city....

I sent a rather long but concise email response to her 4 questions.... so I am now waiting with baited breath for her reply..... Hope I don't have to wait another month for it....:sqlaugh:
 
This used to be the place where I would meet my prospective clients. I lived in the neighborhood. I have done a few events there.

The reception would have to be on the 2nd floor. Load in would be from the back of the facility. I think there is still a spot where you can park to do that. There is a rather rickety elevator that you can use to get up to the second floor.
I believe that there is also parking behind the facility, but it is paid parking & ususally full. Parking meters in Chicago are now .25 cents for 15 minutes. (Thank you Mayor Daley)
Keep in mind that this is a HIGHLY congested area, meaning LOTS of bars, restaurants, etc. - TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC. AND - if the Cubs are in town, it may take you an hour to travel 3 blocks.

In other words Rob, give yourself lots of time. If there is Valet use it, for a few extra bucks you may get help in carrying in your equipment.
 
Thanks Cindy for the valued info. Perhaps you can offer Rob some detail on pricing and charges you might have used when playing this venue to help him with his lead and the quote.

Thank you for such great information... Good news is my original quote is about $100.00 over what I normally charge anyway so that should take care of parking and other frustrations.

Hey thanks guys... this is really good to know stuff.

I haven't heard back from them yet, but I'm confident even without charging a traveling fee (which I should) I've got my price high enough to cover the extra expenses should I incure any.

Thats one of the best ways to get in through the front door my friend. I used to do it at hotels. Tip the Valet and the Bellhop (With his cart)! :sqlaugh:
