I had stated that I had gotten out due to the whole same sex wedding issue but lately I have been thinking about it.

First, my outlook on homosexuality itself has changed. When I got out of DJing in 2010 I was going through a religious crisis; I didn't know what I was and I probably could say that I did not understand God or scripture. I thought I did but I didn't. I had started going down the road of the Hebrew Roots Movement and had become an angry Torah Terrorist.

Making a very long story short, a few months ago I began studying the Book of Revelation and along with it came a study of the sovereignty of God. My bottom line now is that God is sovereign and in control of every aspect of our lives. Yes I believe in predestination. Along with that comes the knowledge that He has done everything for a purpose including making all those in the LBTQ alphabet who they are. It is still a violation of His law but my involvement in their lives just may be the catalyst to open their eyes to that.

That being said, if two people love each other then there is no reason that they cannot spend their lives together. I will not preach at them or judge them. Judgement is not my job. I will do my best to make their wedding a positively memorable event in their lives as their wedding planner or officiant.

I totally understand.
My sister was "born again" a few years back,
and became very preachy when she was in town.
Then, her husband, who was the main thrust of her new found faith...
was caught sleeping with their nanny...
and that pretty much ended her desire to get involved with other people's faith.
Besides, many of the same sex couples I know, are far better human beings than I am.

In all my years I did one same sex wedding. It was my partners cousin who got married. I personally don't believe in such a thimg. To me it's crazy but I got to keep the focus. I'm not gay and never will be. That's on them. I have made a joke out of it. I used to say I could become gay if it was with Donald Trump, Michael Jackson, Bill Gates and Mike Jordan for obvious reasons.

my worst bridezilla was a groom of a gay couple. only gay wedding i've done, only one i've been asked to do.
I find that strange all the ones I did (probably 10 or 12 now) have been over the top good although for the most part I have been lucky I've had very few Zillas or any orientation

Alcohol maybe?
All was fine all evening, even got a tip at the end of the night. Zero issues.

I sent out a request for google review or something...O.M.G.
SOOOO unhappy...'didn't play the songs I requested, even gave him a CD'...he forgot maybe? I played them...ripped them and they're in the playlist of played songs... He didn't like my announcing, didn't approve of my assistant ('she was on her phone all night. he never said he'd have an assistant with him') What is it of his business what my employee does? During cocktails and dinner and most of the night what does YOUR assistant do? Not very damned much I'm sure. Load in/out, setup/teardown, assist with entrance music maybe. Watch things while you're away from the console.
A few other things I don't remember but they're out there online in the review someplace....300 words of bad review. My only bad review.

Photography wise I had one bridezilla - on the day she was nice to ME, but NOBODY else. She MF'd the DJ and then she walked out of her own reception for 45 minutes becuase he played a DNP song from her list. She sent her steak back..TWICE..etc. When she saw the pics she was upset that out of 450 some pictures there was one of a well dressed lady at the church pinning flowers on the groom/grooms men...the groom seemed to know her and I always take such pictures..you dont' like them then erase/don't choose for the album.

The groom then dealt with me for the rest of the album and such..now in her defense I found out after the wedding (when the groom apologized her for behaviour/attitude) that she was 4 months pregnant at the wedding.

The other groom can't claim that!

This sounds like a good story. Care to expound?

I know this isn't totally the point you're making, but if you have an assistant that is in downtime mode and wants to use their phone, it's ideal if they are outside of the performance space. Even if they aren't needing to actually do anything, it looks very unengaged. It would also be weird to have a member of service staff standing in the performance area on a phone looking bored too - even if they had nothing to do.

I'd encourage you to have them sit somewhere out of guests' sight in those situations.

Been there, done that. It always sucks when you're thinking you've done a great job and find out they're griping about it, especially after the fact on a review. I do hope you responded with an upbeat, professional reply. Reviews like that (crazy ones) are gold if you handle them correctly. They'll gain you a lot more jobs than you'll lose from them.

You can't please everybody. Just look at all the people who are happy with you being the DJ for the event. If more people dislike you then like you then you need to examine what you're doing. If it's the opposite keep doing what you're doing.
